Richard, glad to see you are (mostly, darn kidneys) OK. You might look into this after you sell your vehicles.

David, your sucky jacket weather is here now. It looks to be temporary this time. Next time we won't be so lucky.

Porsche-poor 10-17-2019 09:04 AM

currently 50* and drippy.

flipper35 10-17-2019 09:07 AM

48* here and cloudy. Sunny and around 60* for Fri-Mon. Then back in the 40s.

Pete, no need!

GH85Carrera 10-17-2019 09:34 AM

68 and sunny here. Dang purdy outside. Of course I am stuck in my home office with several projects to finish.

GH85Carrera 10-18-2019 06:20 AM

My partner flew our airplane up to St. Louis to meet a client, then flew the project in middle of no where Illinois. By the time he was done with the project he had been flying all day. So he decided he was spending the night up there. The next morning the weather was perfect, and it had been partly cloudy to overcast the day before. So he re-flew the project to get better images, even though the client had said to fly it the day before. It took only 2 hours to fly the project, and then he flew home non stop. He had been flying all day at that point and was amazed he had lots of fuel left when he landed. He filled it up, as we always like to put it back in the hangar with full tanks. He was real happy to get out of the airplane.

Hopefully the client loves the imagery and will use us a lot next year.

Moring all. There be no photo flying here today unless you want to be at tree top or below.

With super cloudy day we just save time and fuel and open Photoshop, and set the background to a medium grey, and save and done. No one ever wants to pay for that, so we don't bother flying on extra cloudy days.

We recently shot an oblique of a medical complex, with downtown OKC and the entertainment district in the background. We fly it for them every few years. The place that does our printing liked it so much they asked my permission to print a 30x40 and hang it on their lobby wall. I told them the other day we had reshot it to update it. One of the employees there said it would be cool to have a nighttime photo. I laughed and said yea, but we have a really hard time getting the airplane to stop in mid air so we can take long exposures, and we don't have a tripod that is 3,000 feet tall.

Porsche-poor 10-18-2019 08:56 AM

you need one of them fancy rotor wing things that hover.

GH85Carrera 10-18-2019 09:37 AM

Yea, even the best helicopter, and the Hollywood level gyroscope can't hold the camera perfectly still for a 2 minute exposure.

We have flown late afternoon almost sundown photos with the oblique camera. It is a high dollar Canon, full size sensor, professional camera. It weighs seven pounds! We can run the ISO up to 64,000 and still get almost no noise photos. We shot the OU - Notre Dame game a few years back and captured some great images. The fireworks showed up and the field is lit up real well. The area outside the stadium gets pretty dark.

earthquake weather here.

Porsche-poor 10-18-2019 09:52 AM

That's some shaky news.

RKDinOKC 10-18-2019 09:56 AM

A guy in Gramda's small town drove a tractor. It didn't even require him to have a license,

Porsche-poor 10-18-2019 10:01 AM

how about insurance?

RKDinOKC 10-18-2019 10:20 AM

Don't know. Everyone gave him a wide berth.

GH85Carrera 10-18-2019 10:38 AM

I have seen stories of guys that just drive their riding lawn mower to "town" and go to the grocery store and liquor store. Usually guys with too many DUIs and can't ride a bike.

RKDinOKC 10-18-2019 01:14 PM

Even as a little kids thought it was funny to see his tractor parked at the downtown bar.
But it was not a lawn mower, it was a full size tractor. It even had a climate controlled cab on it.

Porsche-poor 10-18-2019 02:38 PM

yep. with periods of Sherman tank cloud cover.....as in better to be on the ground.

GH85Carrera 10-19-2019 06:04 AM

Off to "Motors in the Morning" at the Porsche dealership. Free coffee and donuts!

And some cool cars to look at. It is a really hard long drive for me. Almost 2.5 miles each way!

Jim Richards 10-19-2019 12:36 PM

Riding home from LAX. It’s nice to be back on the left coast!
