Phew, I have had a busy day. I was at the tire shop place I like at 8:30 to get the new front tires mounted on the Elky. I went right from there to see my CPA and then on down to almost downtown to drop off my 911 manual to be rebound into a hard cover book. It had a broken spine on the section for the rear suspension, and I have a few pages that are error updates. All will get bound into a new looking hard cover book.
I got home and did a little bookkeeping for the company, and then the mean old boss sicked his wife on me and I was "allowed" to help remove the koi pond cover, and of course clean out the filters. The cover is rolled up and back up in the attic, and filters are a whole lot cleaner. Now I have finally have time to get back to Pelican! :D |
928 just drove off. He is getting all the stuff fixed and doing all the listing and advertising to sell.

It is time Richard. Past time to sell it.
I had a really weird email today that activated my spidey senses. It was a reply to an actual email we I had sent to a client. We did a simple picture of the ground of their area on the day they wanted. It was just an orthophoto, no targets were put down so we give zero accuracy statements. The email was supposed to be from the client, and the name part of her address was right, but the email came from Brazil. The text in the email was saying they had some accuracy problems and attached a link for me to download the file. I check it out on my iPhone and it was a zip file. Screw that. I just deleted it and called my business partner to warn him that it was a bogus email. Freaking low life scammers. I can only assume our client was hacked and someone is sending out bogus email. |
Be sure to share the link once it’s posted Richard. That thing should bring a pretty penny. Would almost be worth paying the premium to post it on BAT honestly.
|
Sounds like it is about the right time to sell. i agree with Sid that it should sell above average.
|
afternoon all. Caught a small break so I'm back.
|
If it’s too small, you might have to toss it back. ;)
|
I'm tempted to!!!!!

Already says he has a guy that wants to come look at the 928 this weekend.
He said everyone at the dealership knew my name when he showed them my car. His daughter the service manager knew me by name along with Scott their 928 mechanic. |
Well you bought the Boxster from them, and you are not the average blend in to the group type of guy. They all call me by name as well. Scott is their best resource for mechanical work. He has had factory training on every car sine the 1970s. Of course back then it was just the 911 and the 914 models.
He started at a VW dealer in Chicago because they were close to the rich neighborhoods and they did a lot of 356 work for customers. He wanted to learn all about the 356 and the up and coming 911 model. He is the one that rebuilt the transmission in my 911 at his home garage. The dealership does not have the old tools needed to do it, and no one but him know how to use them. He just finished a course on working on the Tycan in Atlanta. |
Found out Planet 911 will not do work for me specifically, Cory won't even answer my caller ID. Was correct when I stopped by one day and thought I saw him driving around the block to avoid me. Have no idea why.
This guy my nephew found knows a lot more car guys than the Porsche people. He has a Lotus Elan he is restoring. Because of his daughter he also seems to be able to get Scott to do more than the dealership normally does. Like your transmission thing. |
Yesterday I got the new tires mounted on the Elky. The owner of the place came out of the back office to pull it in. He talked to the mechanic about my car. I had my coffee mug with me and asked if I could go out and put the mug in the car so I don't forget it. The mechanic told me he was rebuilding a El Camino and someday he hopes to have one that looks as nice as mine. One other mechanic came walking up from the bays in the back of the shop and did a wolf whistle as he looked at the Elky.
It was obvious they all had excellent taste. ;) |
Because you don't have a 911.
Cory is a great guy, but horrible business man. He will not ever call anyone back, unless you own him money. Even me, he simply will not call anyone back, and he often just lets his phone go to voice mail, and deletes it. I have no idea why he operates that way. If I have a question, I text him. He will text back a reply. If I have a specific question and he can make money, he will text back. He is always busy somehow. His shop does good work, and I know many people that use him for service. In the end, I am glad I can do most of the work myself for my cars. |
One of the reasons I really liked the Porsche cars is because of the service I got from Bob Dumont. Since he passed I've gotten good service on my Cayennes, but not the 928GTS. They 928 mechanic retired right before I got the GTS.
Looks like Scott says he can fix the GTS, even though it is not stock. But can't tune it after the bigger injectors becuase I have programable chips in the ECUs. There is a guy here in town that can tune it, but it will be really rich after the new injectors until tuned. The local tuner guy says he can whip a quick tune on it, but can't do the injectors or O2 sensor. There is a guy in Dallas that can do everything, but the car would have to sit in storage in Dallas for 3 months for him to get to it. Why the heck did Porsche make an ECU that won't accept the simulated narrowband O2 from a wideband O2 sensor? And why wouldn't Mike at Dumonts accept that and hook up both the wideband and a stock narrowband? |
Having a great time in Dubai, but if you ever holiday here be prepared to leave with a much lighter wallet. Nothing here is cheap.
|
Jeff, I saw the Richard Hammond show called Big last night. It was about the worlds tallest building. Very interesting place.
No doubt everything is expensive there. Like Singapore, Tokyo, or NYC. Only Dubai is all new. |
|
Very impressive, but have no desire to work or live in a tall building. Must be because of the towering inferno movies. Got that way before 09/11. Think is was about the time I realized I am not in fact, immortal.
|
Hammond got to go to the very tip of the antenna and was all happy because for a few minutes he was the tallest man in the world! ;)
It is amazing what a few billion in oil money can buy. |
Been up in the Sears tower, or whatever it is called these days. Was interesting to visit. I could not work there, I hate downtown Chicago.
