Picked up new transportation.
By far more painful to operate than a Rover...also, more fun.

I'm an idiot.

How many miles per beer does it get?

3-7. It'd get better mileage if it had more than one gear.

So I guess climbing those mountains around Hilton Head one speed is enough for the steep mountain grades of the area?

Morning all. 5 days off and not a single day off. Lots of MIL chores and house chores. No time to relax and do anything fun. On turkey day we cooked like mad but stayed home.

That was really cool to eat outside under the stars, looking at downtown San Diego, next to aircraft, and it was like being in a large auditorium as far as conditions. Just spectacular and few places on Earth could have an similar event.

In '07 I was part of the PCA AX crew that event, I co-announced the AX.
Agree stunning view from North Island towards downtown San Diego.
I always enjoyed the views for 26 years from the air traffic control tower at Lindbergh airport across the bay from the aircraft carriers.
Also did a tour on the USS Ranger.
When the carriers are docked at North Island for rehab we called them the pigs in the bay.
Because everything was torn up and as ship's company we had to remain on board during the construction.

David, you had the days off, but worked for free. MIL chores are quite familiar to me. I always get to tinker on her computer to update something or fix something.

Porsche-poor 11-30-2020 07:39 AM

true days off. I think the only day I had to rest on was turkey day. Not much to do but wait for the bird to finish cooking.

I have said for years that the PCA Parade autocross run in San Diego was with no doubt the most professionally run autocross of all. A zillion cars all run in one day, like clockwork. Great fun. The locals had a distinct advantage for knowing the course. That was the days when the 911 G body cars could run in "stock" mode yet have race slicks, gutted interior and be a track rat. A real street car like mine had no chance against race slick tires. They finally have that rule fixed.

There were always 25 to 30 cars in my class and my goal was to finish in the top part of the street tire cars, and I usually did. Still way too far down to get a trophy.

Glad you enjoyed it, we ran something like 600 timed laps a day to get all the cars through the competition.
Yes the locals knew the parking lot but not necessarily the AX course for the Parade.
PCA had a rule if we pre-ran the course we were not eligible to enter the Parade AX.
Yes I helped pre-run and fine tune the track but no one actually pre-ran the course in advance of racing on it during the Parade.
I remember some highly stressed lightweight 914 race cars that were nearly melting down after a 60 second lap.
Very sad that parking lot AX location is no longer available.
Long ago it was the largest parking lot used for AX west of the Mississippi.
I enjoyed the slope and camber changes it offered.

Still bummed no one will let me play on the track without a helmet.

Just become a "journalist" and review cars or get a TV show. Those guys get to run on the track all the time on TV with no helmet.

I really don't mind wearing a helmet on track.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

Ours was a little sadder. We did not hunt in the rain, I was out digging a hole the size of our Lab and her shoe. She passed away sometime Tuesday night. The boy went to let them out Wednesday morning and he couldn't wake her. He is still pretty sad she is gone. She was our daughters dog and the daughter is in Tulsa OK. She was 10.

Yeah, I need to regear it. Right now, it's geared for somewhere with a bit more elevation change. As a result, you're pedaling so fast that you feel like you're gonna have a heart attack and only doing 13mph.

Probably. We will see after a few more rides.

Sorry about the pup, that's always terrible to deal with.

flipper35 11-30-2020 09:23 AM

Thanks.

GH85Carrera 11-30-2020 09:27 AM

Yea, sorry about your lab. That is extra tough on the kids. Condolences for all.

I may be reading that wrong but how does the princess feel about you riding her...…..

Porsche-poor 11-30-2020 02:38 PM

Sorry to hear about the pup. Never a good thing to loose a family member.
