Morning all. its great to see a story like that. So many times there is no one to help take care the older folks.

GH85Carrera 04-30-2021 06:55 AM

They have other kids, but they are just middle class Americans and not crazy rich. The other kids help them out some, but they all live in other cities. It is great that a deserving couple will be taken care of.

Their daughter has sent her private jet up to Oklahoma City to fly them down to Dallas many times. So that level of rich.

Phew, the boss's wife had me in the yard at 8:30 digging holes. Just one new hole, and one dead plant that did not make it through the sub zero temps in February.

Then I started on a brake pad replacement for the 911. The fronts were 100% ready. They were just starting to touch at the brake sensor. So time to replace. The rears were fine. The rear tires are wearing faster, but the rear brakes are good to go for at least one or likely two more track days.

Then I was allowed to edge and mow the yard.

Inside at 3:00 PM and now goofing off watching F1 practice and qualifying.

GH85Carrera 05-03-2021 06:40 AM

I took the 911 out yesterday to bed in the new brake pads. Having done many pad replacements I knew to pump the brakes once before I took off the parking brake. The first time I ever did a pad replacement was on the 914 and I scared the crap out of myself as I rolled toward the busy street.

The area where I live is ideal for brake pad bedding. It is a hilly 50 MPH road with almost no traffic. Up to 55, nail the brakes aggressively, repeat several times, then get on I-35 and drive for 4 miles at 70 MPH to cool them off. They seem to be working just fine with no pulling to either side.

Morning all. Not much going on here this weekend except the usual chores.

flipper35 05-03-2021 10:53 AM

I do not like mowing in 35mph winds. My wife does not like trying to plant seeds in the garden with said winds either.

Mowing in shorts on the tractor I had grass in places a man does not want grass.

After that we went grocery shopping. That wasn't as bad as we hadn't stocked the freezer in a long time. Her family is coming to visit this weekend.

Porsche-poor 05-03-2021 11:11 AM

Grass in places............

I guess you were not cut out to snuggle stuff for a living.

I just was FORCED to swing by the local Porsche dealership to pick up a check. As the treasurer I get to collect the money for the advertising. For whatever reason they said I could pick up the check, and I guess they wanted to save that 51 cents in postage.

They were stuffing all the new cars on the lot inside buildings and a "hail barn" they rent a few miles away. Possible hail again tonight.

There was a really pretty 911 GT3RS on the floor. It was only $226,000 grand. Nice toy but damn than is expensive.

Porsche-poor 05-03-2021 11:51 AM

yeah for that much money it needs a microwave and a shower min.

GH85Carrera 05-03-2021 11:55 AM

My 1985 model of edger has a gas leak. Dang piece of junk, all I have ever done is lube the grease zerks, and add oil and gas as needed. OK, I have gone through some spark-plugs and a replaced the foam in the air filter and I do change the oil every few years, and numerous blades. For the most part, put it on choke, pull the rope, it fires up, and put it in run mode and edge.

So after 35 years (I bought 07/03/1986) for a bargain as it was on closeout. That shop closed 20 years ago or so. The big box stores killed it.

Anyway, the float seat is worn out. It sometimes will not seal, and it just leaks gas like mad, especially if the tank has a lot of gas in it. I had to go to a local lawn mower shop that has a connection with old carb kits. His address in 132 West Main. So a block west of the dead center of downtown Edmond, OK.

morning all. today is prep day. nothing but clear liquids. I'm already not feeling well.

GH85Carrera 05-04-2021 07:24 AM

Just stay close to the toilet. Tell all in the house, the closest toilet is reserved for you today only.

The actual procedure tomorrow is a piece of cake. Nice does of happy juice and you wake up feeling great, and under doctors orders to fart all you can.

Porsche-poor 05-04-2021 07:33 AM

actual prep starts at 3pm then its almost 24 hours till I get to eat again.

That sucks. My doc sells a box of food and instructs me to eat nothing at all that is not in the box. It is not a hearty meal, but it does have a breakfast, snack, lunch, and broth for dinner. And lots of powdered flavored drink to keep up the fluids. I can drink all the water I want, just no other food. It was not so bad, and none of that nasty GoLYTELY crap.

You may have seen this before, but it always worth the read. Dave Barry and the colonoscopy.

Assuming the happy juice actually works. It doesn't work the same on everyone. Ask me how I know. Actually, don't ask!

Porsche-poor 05-04-2021 10:10 AM

I'm not going to and I don't want to know!!!!

rotten day to be in a liquid diet. Its cold and rainy out.

flipper35 05-04-2021 10:14 AM

Hey, at least if you are caught outside and there is an "incident", no one will know!

Porsche-poor 05-04-2021 10:28 AM

lol never thought of that.

GH85Carrera 05-05-2021 07:27 AM

David, I hope everything came out OK!

I am running a project now on my main computer that just made a point cloud that is 195,409,001 points. Funny that it stopped at 001.

It will likely be a whopper of a LAS file for the AutoCAD folks.
