Nice weather here. Cold mornings, but it's almost morning, and 60 degrees.

I know you are not going to fall for that email asking for SSN. I wonder how many will.

Porsche-poor 12-12-2023 10:05 AM

I should email them back with a random series of numbers. NOT!

The fog has gotten thicker here at the office.

GH85Carrera 12-12-2023 10:10 AM

As one doctors appointment. on the initial appointment they asked for my SSN. I left it blank. The receptionist sid it was needed to enter it into the computer. I just told her mine was 555-55-5555 and that was accepted.

Porsche-poor 12-12-2023 10:19 AM

When out shopping and they ask for a phone number I give them 253-555-1212. They type it in the computer accepts it and w move on.

I did that at a local office store. Only the local 405 prefix. The chick was a 20 something, and she replied that is a convenient and easy to remember number. I had too stifle a giggle. I am sure she grew up with a cell phone and never once called information.

Porsche-poor 12-12-2023 02:29 PM

Probably not. I did it once and an older lady chuckled and said I never thought of that and typed it right in.

Hey look at that an email wanting my SSN to finish opening a PayPal business account. Yeah that is not going to happen.

PP has been asking for documentation for a couple years now. They and eBay are required to send 1099's. I opted out. There are many payment portals other than PP so either they shot themselves in the foot or just failed to dodge the requirements. Zelle doesn't give a rat's ass.

So far.

Porsche-poor 12-13-2023 07:01 AM

Morning all. Yeah I just thought it was funny I was sent an email asking for it. Yeah like I'm sending that info out.

GH85Carrera 12-13-2023 07:14 AM

I get lots of crap email for my business. Lots of people want to help us make videos. We don't do video, only photos. We can make a animation video from the 3D image data, but it is just a bunch of still images draped over a 3D model of the ground.

We had some actual door to door salesmen come to the door yesterday. I opened the door to go get the mail as they were walking up. They were selling replacement windows. I told them the same thing I have said for years, I never, ever, buy anything solicited door to door or over the telephone, as a mater of principal.

Porsche-poor 12-13-2023 07:35 AM

We had one of those a few months back. I let him ramble on and on about his replacement windows. Till I told him these are Milguard windows and I was the original owner of the house. The lights came on and he left. The windows have a life time warranty for as long as I own the house.

GH85Carrera 12-13-2023 07:44 AM

Yea, our windows are all double pane quality windows and just fine. If we ever wanted to have them replaced we will find the right people to do it. I suspect we will never have them replaced, as they are fine. We have had to have a few screens fixed, but that is easy.

GH85Carrera 12-13-2023 10:36 AM

Sometime I feel like I am in a repeating loop.

We have one client that is part of a large operation. We fly a project for him every few years. The same area. He like our product and prices.

His organization has a new portal setup that we have to register with, yet they outsource the portal to a third party. It is very convoluted and over-complex, and not intuitive at all. I think they hired the iTunes folks to make it.

I got to one page were every single line of the application was filled, and it was an infinite loop of submit and nope something is missing. Now I have to submit a help ticket to another 4th party entity to be able to get onto the portal, just to do business with the guy that likes our products.

What a pain in the butt.

built in extras to the costs also known as headache fixers

Porsche-poor 12-14-2023 07:51 AM

Morning all. I got to play hands on IT today. Also known as the fool onsite willing to turn things off and see what happens. On of the APC units has been beeping so they had me cycle the power on it this morning. Now to see if the beeping comes back.

GH85Carrera 12-14-2023 07:56 AM

Usually the beeping is the warning that the batter is no longer any good and needs to be replaced.

I have 4 of the APC 1350 units in my office. One just the the big computer, and the router and modem. Another one for the old computer that does not get a lot of use, and the two monitors I use. Another fot the AV equipment, and one more for the printer and the other electrical items I use on occasions.

I thought your weather was like that all year to varying degrees.

Porsche-poor 12-14-2023 11:50 AM

shhhh We have sun we just don't tell anyone about it.

flipper35 12-14-2023 11:52 AM

👍 zippered lips!

GH85Carrera 12-15-2023 06:06 AM

Wow, we had water just fall out of the sky last night. 1.11 inches and it is December in Oklahoma. This is our driest month on average, and that is a nice bonus to the rain total.

GH85Carrera 12-15-2023 09:30 AM

We recently had to take our 182 the the avionics shop. The backup radio was super noisy and basically unusable. We have a Garamin 1000 instrument panel from the factory. It comes with the two radios, so the radios are Garmin as well. We also had one of the data cards that would not read the monthly updates for the maps. So they took one radio out, and one display out, and shipped them to Garman to be factory refurbished. I don't know if they really fixed ours, or just swapped them for like units that were factory refurbished. Anyway, just 7 grand to get us 100% legal and past the annual inspection. Not counting the annual inspection cost itself.

Golly airplanes are fun.
