Morning all. Short week for me. So far a tad busy with all the I wants and needs before Christmas vacation sets in.

GH85Carrera 12-18-2023 10:12 AM

We are having a Christmas lunch. My wife's lady friends, and one of their husbands. He and I are relegated to the "chauffeur's" table in the fancy eating room". The ladies all sit in the kitchen's dining room. We cooked up a big pot of chili and apple dumplings for desert, so not real fancy eating.

Then I have to work, and drive out to the hangar were we keep the airplane, and take the pilot to the avionics shop so he can fly it back to our hangar.

I realized as I saw our 182 sitting in the sun, that I had never taken a photo of my two air cooled vehicles together, so I rectified that.

No great composition, and not a real pretty setting, at the avionics shop hangar door all fixed up and ready to go to it's home hangar.

Morning all. Nice picture. Two days to go.

GH85Carrera 12-19-2023 07:07 AM

And go for a long ways!

The airplane is back snug in it's hangar. We have a few projects to fly real soon.

Porsche-poor 12-19-2023 07:41 AM

yep Long gone. Told the powers that be not to even try and call m phone as it will be off.

GH85Carrera 12-19-2023 07:53 AM

One of my buddies works for a large company. They provide him with a cell phone he is supposed to always have on. He also has a personal phone and he carries both of them all the time. He regularly travels to Europe for his job and they have a lot of European customers. He is often up late at night talking to clients. I have to assume he is well paid to put up with that.

Porsche-poor 12-19-2023 08:00 AM

I could do that if the company I work for paid for the phone, they don't so I get to turn it off or screen the calls.

GH85Carrera 12-19-2023 08:13 AM

Yea, if you own the phone, use it as you see fit.

My wife only gave her cell number to trusted friends and did not use it for work at all. She worked in the HR office at a university. They had several cases where cell phone were subpoenaed for court cases. She also remembered the mantra from her legal office, never send a email or text to anyone that someday you might be on a witness stand under oath and asked about that message.

Porsche-poor 12-19-2023 08:31 AM

yep I refuse to install the company email crap on my personal phone. Esp after reading the fine print that allows them to delete the phone if they suspect foul play on you part or a data breach. So thats a no.

flipper35 12-19-2023 12:52 PM

I have had to wipe a couple phones over the years as they were "lost". The owners were peeved after finding them again. Too bad, you asked for it on your personal device knowing the policy.

His is why I don't do work email on my phone either, even though I get a stipend for it. Figured the stipend only covers when I am on call.

Porsche-poor 12-19-2023 01:01 PM

My old boss never liked the fact I did get emails on my phone till the wife pointed out that yes the phone can be taken as evidence and held for trial. AKA buy company phones and be done with it.

Porsche-poor 12-20-2023 07:01 AM

Morning all. Today is my Friday for the week. What do we bet they come out of the wood work with lots of things to get done.

GH85Carrera 12-20-2023 07:18 AM

That is always the way. Try to finish up all projects before a vacation, and they pile em on.

We may have broken a record yesterday. The boss's wife came in my office and said "WE" need to go to Lowe's for salt for the Koi pond, and to a local nursery to get a huge bag of potting soil, and she even offered to buy my lunch! I had two quick errands to do as well in the same areas. So 5 stops on one trip, in the El Camino of course.

Porsche-poor 12-20-2023 07:33 AM

Tonight is zoo lights. Last night I got home to a baking bomb that went off in the kitchen. Wife and kids were baking up a storm.

GH85Carrera 12-20-2023 08:33 AM

Well the phone calls about my car warranty about to expire have ceased now that it became a national joke. Today I got a notice in the mail that our home warranty is about to expire, and I need to mail a check to them. After 24 of living in our house I have yet to make a payment for a home warranty. I don't think I will start now.

I am having fun with client's web portal to do business with them.

I tried to register, and it said I had incomplete information, yet every line was filled. The refereed me to a tech support of the portal. They opened a ticket, and after a full week they replied that are not the vendor that does the portal for the company. So I am back to where I started. It sounds like they spent a lot of money on a portal system that does not work for bean.

We talked to the guy that want the new flight, and he said fly it, we will get you paid.

WFH today and tomorrow. Saves me having to drive home and right back into town.

GH85Carrera 12-22-2023 06:11 AM

I had a busy day yesterday. I bought a weeping Redbud tree for my wife for Christmas. It doesn not get planted until January, but it is bought and paid for and staying at the nursery. They willl come and plant it, and give us a one year warranty.

She want to put it about where the Chinese Pistach was stilll standing but almost dead. So I called a guy yesterday to come cut it down, haul away the debris, and grind the stump. We can't plant the new tree right there, but close.

GH85Carrera 12-24-2023 06:32 AM

We received 1.90 inches of rain overnight. December is typically our driest month. Not this year.

It is supposed to be dry tomorrow for our drive to Enid.
