We see our male dachshund trailing things in the back yard all the time. I am sure he smelled it later and wonders what the heck it was in his back yard. He never saw it.

Porsche-poor 05-28-2024 10:50 AM

a bird that big might hurt the little guy. but I bet he would attempt it anyway.

Our beagle knew enough to hide from the bald eagles. Our lab would fight the bald eagles for stuff.

GH85Carrera 05-28-2024 01:26 PM

Eagles are equipped with the lethal weapons. Female turkeys are hardly defenseless, but I suspect she would have just hopped over the fence at the first sound of Reuben, as he would be barking and whining as he ran.

Morning all. They sure are but last week I saw a group of crows harassing an eagle to get it to move on. I think they were nuts.

Porsche-poor 05-30-2024 07:19 AM

Hello all. Today is the last day of mostly good weather for a bit.

GH85Carrera 05-30-2024 07:41 AM

We are due to have rain soon for the next 24 hours. We will see. No severe or spinning winds, just rain.

Porsche-poor 05-30-2024 08:02 AM

we can use the rain. We are behind for the year.

GH85Carrera 05-30-2024 08:42 AM

We are about normal for rain, and ahead on tornadoes.

flipper35 05-30-2024 10:54 AM

We are ahead on everything I think.

Get to run to Madison Saturday to pick up a couch and toilet for the camper. Get to take the other trailer for that. Probably pick up some jack pads and such as well while there. See if they can get the camper in to check the brakes and rewire the breakaway pin. Everything else seems functional.

The toilet is a water saving one and is taller so you don't have to sit Indian style. The couch was 50% off with an additional 25% off if we spent $39 to join the club.

She found luxury vinyl planks for the camper. Enough to do the whole thing for $50. Only boxes they had left and they wanted them out of inventory. She does well finding deals.

Morning all. its Friday. The sun is out, not supposed to be doing that.

GH85Carrera 05-31-2024 08:11 AM

We are having a chance of rain for several more days. Right now it is a very light mist, and 67 degrees. I like the temperature, but I would prefer sunshine or just rain.

I have had time to finally really work on the conversion from 8mm vid tape to digital. Thanks to a little help from here. Only 2 tapes to go at this point.

GH85Carrera 05-31-2024 09:58 AM

I converted a bunch of old 8mm movies to digital. Then I uploaded them to YouTube and sent the links to all the family members. It will be stored forever and accessible. Have fun converting.

It is 68 degrees, but the humidity is 95%. The grass is covered in dew and too wet to mow. So I get to wait until it is in the 80s to mow.

I have a few mean boss's wife chores to do as well. She wants drip irrigation heads added. Easy enough.

GH85Carrera 06-01-2024 01:04 PM

I seem to have the ability to control cloud cover. It was total overcast until I went out to start the lawn work. The grass was still not really dry, but dry enough to mow. The sun came out and it jumped to 90 degrees. If I went inside to wash my face or get a drink of water the clouds popped up. I would go out and sun came out.

Just call me Mr. Sunshine. I sure hope it continues to work for the track days in Birmingham!

Porsche-poor 06-03-2024 08:04 AM

Morning all. I have the opposite effect. I can normally make it rain by attempting to take the 911 out.

GH85Carrera 06-03-2024 09:00 AM

I try to avoid driving my clean cars in the rain. We have had .60 inches of rain so far today and 1.36 so far this month. I have driven in heavy frog strangler rain, Fog, sleet, snow, light hail and light mist in my 911. If came from the factory with windshield wipers, windshield squirters, and even headlight washers, fantastic heat, and pitiful AC that I upgraded to kick butt fantastic AC.

On one trip through northern Colorado and Utah there was a light mist, just enough to get the road wet. With hundreds of dirt roads that connected to the highway, the road was covered in mud and the mist just turned my white car brown. I used up a full gallon of windshield washer and headlight washer fluid. They share the same huge tank. I stopped to gas and bought a gallon of washer fluid, and poured it all in.

It all washed off. My fender wells are covered in dirt, but is a driven road car, not a garage queen.

Last year going to Palm Springs we hit one short period of very light rain. On every other of the 20 trips to Porsche parade I have hit at least a few hours of heavy rain, except the 2004 trip to Ft. Worth. No rain the entire time. No doubt we will hit rain again for the trip to Birmingham.

Wife's birthday is this Wednesday so let hope the weather is good for her.

Steve F 06-03-2024 10:00 AM

Ordered 4 new tires for my wife's 1966 Porsche 912, now have to find a shop that won't butcher the freshly polished Fuchs!
