Nice winters, summer not so much. I remember having breakfast on base in El Centro and it was near 100 by 9am while that day the high temp in San Diego was forecasted for 70. WDH is awesome, my rig is so stable with the WDH. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1715960913.jpg |
Chasing old outlets in the house. Original ones not gripping the plugs well. Wife is not happy with my off color jokes................. I may need a dog house tonight.
|
Phew, long sweaty day. I did the autocross this morning, got home, and changed into the yard mowing and edging clothes. Golly what fun in 89 degree heat. This old man was pooped after that.

Morning all. bit chilly here this weekend, sunny but only in the upper 60's.
|
We had some exciting storms blow through last night. Parts of the south metro got some large hail. Several tornadoes in the state. I got the scaredy hole ready and the go bags ready but it all went south of us.
Now I need to put it all back to normal. |
Rain all day rain, That is what is on tap for today.
|
Another warm and sunny day until this afternoon, and then maybe more thunderstorms.
It is spring in Oklahoma. At least we have no drought conditions around here. All the lakes are full, and water is released down the river to go to the Mississippi river and on out to the gulf. |
We drove up to Enid to see my MIL for mother's day. A bit late, but the weather finnaly was good for a dash up and back.
I spent most of the time updating her computer with all the Win 10 updates that were needed. I built that computer 10 years ago, and it is kinda slow now. |
Morning all. Drove to Eugene and back yesterday. Makes for a long day but it was good to see the kids.
|
We made a fruit run to Sam's this morning.
My wife was telling me that basketball games are on every day that she "has" to watch, she still has a lot of tending to the garden that needs to be done. And she loves to read. She checks out electronic versions of books to read on her iPad. The OKC metro library system allows residents to get a library cad, and check out books for free. They only give you a certain amount of time to read it, and it goes away. If no one else wants it, you can check it out again to finish it. If someone else wants it, they get it and you are on a wait list to get it back if you did not finish it. So she has 1/2 a book to read in three days before it is gone. That is the tough life of a retired person. Just not enough time to do all the things she wants to do. |
Morning. Its Friday I think..............
|
Yep. I am starting the process or readying for my Parade trip to Birmingham.
I updated the GPS with the latest updates, and built a contact in my phone with the hotel address and phone number. I will move the 911 to the work bay and do a final check of all systems and start packing tools and car wash stuff next week. It is an easy 622 mile drive. |
Did race car stuff all month and now its in the trailer a week before the race.
Nice to have everything ready ahead of time. Installed a trick maglock connector for my helmet blower and a 2 Go Pro hard wired system. Laguna Seca next weekend mid 60s temp perfect. Camping at the track campground with my wife and racing all weekend. :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1716564904.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1716564918.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1716564925.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1716564938.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1716565108.jpg |

It is really cool to see those old, super valuable cars on track doing what they were built to do.
Not just sitting in some private collection. |
We were at Road America for the vintage races and my daughter was about 7. All the guys asked her to sit in the cars so I could take her picture which she did for all but one. It was a Ferrari and the owner asked why she wouldn't sit in it and she said because Ferrari were the enemy of the Cobra. I told her she should sit in it anyway but she refused. Then she told the owner she cant because her dad has a Cobra. He told her that her dad is braver than he looks!
Don't remember which model, but looked a lot like a 290. |
Back in 1977 I was living still living in Alabama. There was no local PCA region in Alabama at the time. I joined the Peachstate region in Atlanta. We were hired by the Ferrari club to run a track day for them. Dozens of very rare and expensive Ferraris were there. Nick Lauda's winning 312-T F1 car was there running laps until the mechanic stuffed it into the wall. The owner was no upset, he said he would send it to the factory to be made new again. Pontoon fender Testrosas and my friend had a Daytona he gave me a ride around the track in.
We made so much money doing the track day that one week later the Porsche club got to run the track and it was like a $20 registration fee and the rest was paid from the money from the Ferrari guys. |
The mean boss's wife rousted me out of bed 45 minutes early to go out in the 64 degree weather to work on the drainage area. When I installed the sprinkler system, I also installed a French drain. It dumps out under the fence into the neighborhood association's green belt. The water well that waters the yard has a final end section that is a reverse flow of the sand filter to flush the filter. It dumps into that French drain and of course when it rains, the rain from our yard and most of the neighborhood flows into our back yard, into the French drains until it is overwhelmed, and then it flows down the center of our back yard, and over to where the French drain dumps out.
We had build a stone drainage area but the water was trying to divert around it. So we added some more stone and a concrete flat block to direct the water to the rocks. It looks better now, and we will have to wait for the next big rain to see how it does. We have had 12 inches of rain over 48 hours and no problems of flooding, just lots of drainage. We are on a hill, and water always flows downhill. Next up is mowing again. |
