It has been Hades hot this past week-and-a-half. >100 degrees (and >110 in certain areas) daily. Just going outside, you feel like you're walking into a crematorium. Kids' sports canceled. PE canceled (just watching movies instead). School canceled or changed to "early days". Power outages. Transformers bursting into flames. It's been rough.

Fortunately, today it's only in the 90s, with a trend down to the 80s by the weekend.

Porsche-poor 09-10-2024 11:02 AM

My kid at LMU said it was ugly hot there.

GH85Carrera 09-10-2024 12:52 PM

It was 57 degrees this morning. I like it!

Mid 80s and 5:00 and the temp tops out. I think we had 4 days total of 100+ temps this year.

It is funny that schools close for heat. I never once attended a school with air conditioning. And with schools in Texas, Alabama & Oklahoma, I remember sweat dripping from my nose and onto a test paper. And we did not have an air conditioned house until I was in 11th and 12th grade.

And I had to walk too school uphill both ways in 5 feet of snow!

GH85Carrera 09-11-2024 06:18 AM

Yesterday's official low temp was 49!

The hurricane causing the problems in New Orleans will push our cooler weather out, and let the damn California heat dome move east. We are going back to the 90s and higher humidity. I wish the hurricane was coming this way, we could use the rain. The southeast will get all the rain where the flooding will be bad.

Porsche-poor 09-11-2024 07:38 AM

Morning all. We have rain lots of rain.

Porsche-poor 09-12-2024 08:25 AM

Morning all. wow what fun I placed an order for dry erase markers and got a cabinet jig for drilling holes for the pulls. Yeah not even close. Its also a pain to return cause they think I need to label it no air freight.

GH85Carrera 09-12-2024 03:10 PM

Yea, that ain't close.

I have had to work today!

A long term client sent an email and requested the newest images of Custer County, OK. Our source to download them numbers every county, not by name, but the start at 01 and skip all the even numbers. So Custer county is 039. Who knows why. So I had to decipher the correct file name and download that. While I was in there, I downloaded the entire state, and high resolution. Then I had to decode all the counties into county names.

She was happy with the high resolution image of some farmland in nowhere, Oklahoma.

happy clients pay the bills and come back.

GH85Carrera 09-12-2024 03:55 PM

Yea, the good news is was 100% profit. I like that profit margin.

She has been a customer since I got into aerial photography. She is a cute blonde, and the 90+ year old owner of the company always hugged her. If I tried that I would get slapped by her and my wife if she heard about it. I have not seen her in 15 years or more. We just exchange email.

I had to use our OneDrive to upload the file for her to download, as it was 1 235 MB file. In the past I would have burned a CD and mailed it to her. I can't remember the last time I burned a CD or DVD. I downloaded 232 GB of data for all of Oklahoma in a very short time. All stored on the RAID drive now.

Morning. TGIF or TGIO depending on how your week is going.

GH85Carrera 09-14-2024 06:45 PM

I had a fun Saturday. The Guthrie, OK car show. Just shy of 300 hundred cars. Everything from 1920 model Ts to Cyber trucks that are just weeks old.

I took my El Camino and had a loot of people loving it. I entered it in the daily driver category. A guy in a 2017 year car won. I will suggest that for next year, the daily driver category be restricted to nothing newer that 1999. I still hung out with my Porsche buddies.

Porsche-poor 09-16-2024 07:33 AM

Morning all. Had the GK over part of the weekend and we did the birthday thing. He will be 4 in a few days.

GH85Carrera 09-16-2024 08:08 AM

Forced into grandpa duty, I am sure you loved every bit.

Porsche-poor 09-16-2024 08:17 AM

This weekend sure. It was rainy out so so outside chores got done.

Porsche-poor 09-17-2024 07:39 AM

Morning all. Off to complete some drawing for a new project.

flipper35 09-17-2024 02:16 PM

Weather is perfect for commuting on the motorcycle this week. Went fishing Sunday. Didn't catch much but we were fishing.

GH85Carrera 09-18-2024 09:51 AM

My garage door opener had an issue. I "have a guy" that should get me back to operational today. Oh boy, more expense!

Porsche-poor 09-18-2024 02:41 PM

afternoon all. Ours has been acting up. Won't always close when you press the button, won't always open.

Porsche-poor 09-19-2024 07:27 AM

Morning all. No CAD today so I will catch up on chores.

Noah930 09-19-2024 07:42 AM

When the torsion bar snapped on the garage door mechanism, I had a pro come and replace it. Looks simple to do on the YouTube videos, but there's also a lot of potential energy stored in those wound up springs, and I didn't want to accidentally impale my head with one of those winding sticks.

But when the panel/button went out, I just replaced it myself. It a little doing, but I traced the problem (of why the garage door opener would sometimes open by itself!) to the panel. I ordered a replacement. It worked...for about 3 weeks, and then the same problem recurred. I think I went through another replacement panel in short order before I decided screw it. Instead of the fancy one with the internet connectivity and time delay and all that jazz, I just installed the cheapo/basic one with the open-close and light switch features. No problems since then.
