Phew. I just came in after playing in the garage, and changing the transmission oil in the 911.

It had 11,000 miles on that transmission oil, not excessive, but lots of autocrosses and one track day. Long ago I bought a second drain plug with the magnet and I use that in the fill position. The differential throws the oil right onto that plug, and of course the magnet. It had more metal goo than the drain plug by a lot. I like to catch the metal parts ASAP, and the differential slings a lot of oil, and capturing it while in motion is a good thing in my mind.

Weee!

Fun with AV components today. We are trying to get the TV watching in the living room easier to use. Total first world problem.

60 inch TV hooked to our AV surround sound amplifier, using a TIVO DVR system for most things. However, we have an Apple TV, and a Chromecast, and a Blue Ray player as other inputs. We almost never use the Blue Ray, but it is there so might as well keep it as an option.

That means there is a remote for the TIVO, the Amp, and the Apple TV and of course the Chromecast. We had a problem with the Cox Cable feed for a week, and they admitted they had a Node issue and it took them a week to get that fixed. So we used the Chromecast to watch TV. We both have Apple iPhones and my wife loves her iPad so an Apple TV is nice.

We had set them up as they were purchased and the Chromecast was plugged into the TV, and it just takes over the TV functions, and did not play through the surround sound system.

So now everything is going through the amp, and hopefully less confusing for us, and any guests.

That is how we do things on our TV. Everything is routed through the home theater amp. Though the HTPC does most of the work for all our streaming services, we have the consoles routed that way too.

Another piece tested in the airbrush booth.

We got rid of our home stereo system. We were not using it for watching tv so it was removed to free up some space.

We really like the surround sound and higher quality of sound from the AV Amplifier. It is weird sometimes when watching a movie it sound like a person talking is coming in through the window or from down the hall as they approach the main scene.

And if my wife is not home, I can crank up the sound and watch a good "blowed em up real good" action movie at higher volumes than when she is here.

Going back to just the speaker from the TV is like so retro.

In my office, my computer is hooked to a pair of nice speakers, and a subwoofer, so I can watch streaming content on my computer.

I also have a TV hooked to the Tivo system and a AV amp for regular cable TV far. It has a paid of really nice Boston Acoustic speakers and a center channel. No surround sound, but good sound. I could hang some rear speakers if I was really motivated, but this is the corner of the house, and the roof slopes down to the eves on both sides, so I would have to craw on my belly like a snake to get to the area. It just is not worth that effort. My computer desk in pretty much in the corner of the room, and there is no room for speakers on the floor.

We have an old flat screen TV in the bed room, but it almost never gets used. Mostly for basketball games that are played on the west coast that my wife likes to watch. I call them the squeaker games, because the high pitched squeak of the shoes on the court is really annoying as overgrown men play a silly child's game as I try to go to sleep.

Being from Oregon I'll give you a pass. That is not "central". We are headed to the Bend area. Crater Lake is South and West of Bend.

Well it is kinda sorta central if you zoom out far enough!

We saw a lot of waterfalls and pretty countryside when we were there.

But I have been there and hiked to lake shore, took a boat to the island and hiked to the top of it.

Did the big floating log appear while you were on the lake?

We drove down to see crater lake when we were in Portland for Porsche Parade. On the way we stopped at the Oregon Ducks campus. I figured every college campus in the USA would have a good pizza joint. We drove to the center of campus, and saw a group of guys hanging out at a coffee shop. I asked them where the best pizza joint was and they acted like I asked where to get British food. They all just shrugged and said they had no idea. College age guys, and no idea where good pizza was. Only in Oregon.

I stopped at a convenience store and asked them, and she pointed to one down the street. It was decent pizza, but it pretty hard to mess up pizza unless you get pineapple of some other horrid topping on it.

No idea about the log. As far as pizza I'd have to ask the oldest kid where to go in Eugene.

Our small gamble on shooting a new oblique angle photo when we were not even asked has paid off. It cost us an extra 15 minutes of flight time, but we already have over a grand in print orders. If they ask for a digital file, it will be billed, and not full res. If they ask for the full res file, full price as if they ordered it in the first place, and only then will we release the copyright so they can use it in their publications or internally.

It is a strange thing here, water is just falling out of the sky! Really, water, that weighs over 8 pounds per gallon has been just falling out of the sky. and we have had over 1.15 inches so far. Just amazing.

Fortunately, the remains of hurricane Norma came to visit. We love hurricanes!
