I just had an exciting phone call. The burglar alarm company called and said they had an alarm at my house. I told them to call the police and I would head over. They asked what type of vehicle I drove so the cops would know that I was the home owner when I arrived. It takes me about 12 minutes to get home. By the time I got there a cop car was out front and the cop said the property was secure. We went in to see what might have happened. The door into the kitchen had opened about two inches. The wind was strong enough to blow that door open even with the garage doors down. Obviously the kitchen door was not pulled tight when we left. My wife does not like to lock the door into the kitchen because the keys are in the bottom of her purse. Her car is keyless entry so she does not need to mess with keys. I will push to get that door locked when we leave now.

WHEW!

ok, if you ever try to get a laptop repaired

don't get it completely disassembled like that,
laptop components are fragile, especially the connectors.

Leave the mobo in the casing, unless you are absolutely sure it's shot, and have another one ready to install.

don't put it on any kind of textile, static electricity is your enemy when dealing with these kind of components.
ground yourself, or have something around that is ground, and touch frequently... like a regular pc, that's plugged in.

All I wanted him to do, is see if the power jack solder joints were broken and look what he's got himself into....
