Yea, again today here in OKC, I was putting together some of the parts of 8 new cameras built from scratch. The tiny parts and connections, and the way they work all are just cool to see go together. Some the wire connectors are a challenge to crimp the tiny parts on the wire, and insert into the gang connectors. Programming the servo motors, and the overall design is just really astonishing. I just help assemble the parts into the whole. The design of the electronics and the software is just another order of magnitude above my understanding.

The camera sensors are really cool, and made by companies that make sensors. They only produce a file that is a RAW Bayer pattern that has to be post processed to even look like an image.

I am just the entry level grunt right now. I hate working with glasses that magnify 3.5 times as is so much so small tedious work. Still it is fascinating.

Afternoon all. I'm still hanging in there. The Porsche was sold before Christmas and has moved to a different state now. I am down to around 175LBS which is not good but better than the alt.

I'll try and get on here more as all I do is sleep.

Glad to read you are still around. I started to send you a text, but I did not want to bother you.

We had 7.5 inches of the white crap fall from the skies last weekend. I bet it is another 5 days before it all melts. I hate that crap, and if I wanted to see it, I would drive to the mountains where it belongs but I would go visit it in the summer while wearing shorts.

Yep still around just tired a lot and the computer is far away from the couch where I nap most of the days away. When the time comes I hop the wife will let someone know and that person will fill in the rest as needed.

Finally got my train set home from when I was in kindergarten. The original AHM locomotive doesn't work. Had an F7 that I converted to DCC and got a DCC controller for Christmas. I can expand the layout now as well on 3 4x8 sheets instead of the 4x5 layout it is now.

Found a nice Dash 9 BNSF loco at the local shop for $127 off. It doesn't run on the current layout with the tight curves.

Need to dig the Cobra out of the garage. Motorcycles and wood for the camper are all behind it right now.

Just to pass along some really sad news, Porsche-poor, AKA David is not doing well. His going into Hospice care as his cancer has spread from his pancreas to his liver and the prognosis is grim.

It is such a sad thing. A super nice man is dying of cancer.

I will post on the main board a new thread about it when he passes.

I will probably go on hospice care next Thursday. Give the liver one last chance to fight back.

I am posting this to let anyone that has followed this long thread that David, AKA had died from his cancer. As there are few other people chatting on the thread, this may well be the end of the Stijn thread.

I will miss David. He was a good friend I never got to meet in person. RIP buddy.

Always a positive guy. Sent some engineering drawings of a F4U Corsair which I very much treasure.

Another sad day in Pelican Land. RIP good sir.

I spent a half hour going back through this thread as I'm not a participant. I found: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/12376736-post160445.html
So a year and a half of mostly hopeful misery. I have to say this has made up my mind that at my age, F it. Whatever they find, they find.

From what I see, David was one of those people that you care for this as family, friends, co-workers, groups (like us) that felt a good person.

RIP, David. I'm very sorry. Know that your mission was beneficial in so many ways, but one singular outcome of that mission has set my life course. My dear aunt passed in the same fashion. I was with her just hours before she was gone. I think she knew whose hand was there to touch her. I couldn't take any more and had to leave earlier that evening. When my cousin got there at my urging I understand she felt his presence, started crying and passed.

The hospital had taken her to a room where they take them. Downstairs and dark. Pretty fcking callous but what else did they have? They see it daily. Like Seahawk, take me home.

Thank you and God rest.

Well said Zeke. It was really hard watching my dad in his final days, gasping for breath after a failed heart valve replacement. Dad looked at me and between breaths said to me "a man should not have to live like this".

David did have the few extra months of life from the treatment, and got to have one last Christmas with his family.
