You know, I'm not sure Merrel knew what they were insinuating when they put that label there.

They probably had a few cocktails in the boardroom when they decided.

You have cats? Does the fan always seem to be on at full speed, do you use it on a pillow or blanket?

The joys of being a pediatrician. They almost all come in kicking and screaming.

Yes dave, I have a cat.
I do use it on a pillow.
Never noticed the fan.

Have I cooked it?

One guess, the cat hair and dust has plugged the heat sink, with the pillow exaggerating the issue.

Mac or Windows?

With the laptop off, flip it over and locate the intake and exhaust slats. Exhaust is usually on the side of back. Get a "Can of air", the cans found at a Office Depot type store.. You can also use a regular compressor - like for "tyres", just back off from the exhaust and blow! The canned air is much safer. dust and crap should come out.... Keep it off the pillow/blanket, it needs to breathe... Since you have cats, you have to clean the heat sink once and a while.

My macbook pro has no visible vents and rarely kicks a fan on. I have to be careful about putting it on soft surfaces though, the damn thing gets HOT, and then it goes into a mode my Comp Forensics teacher described as "Liftoff" and the fan gets LOUD and it starts to cool down.
