I get the info from ATIS at least twice a flight.
Fact is, at a local AP like VNY, you really don't need altitude correction for a VFR day.

A couple of 928 guys are developing a replacement center console for the 928 that houses a touch screen car computer with the cars climate controls integrated into the carputer. I will be upgrading the tunes in my 928 when they get this thing running.
It's looking pretty cool, I should be able to also integrate the car tuning system I am installing now so I can build screens to show all the tuning data points and retune on the fly if necessary.

Not sure if I asked this already, but are you going to Rennsport, Dave?

Yeah, not my thing.
I really don't enjoy walking around looking at cars. I'm not a car guy, other having grown up around Porsches. I'm an adrenaline junkie and competitive. Driving fast and on the verge of losing control is fun. Flying airplanes is fun. Extreme skiing is fun... Looking danger in the eye and giving it the middle finger is fun.

Funny, flying planes didn't seem to thrill me enough to want to pursue lessons after my few demo rides. I like the canyon roads better.
Now, if it was an F-16 or an Edge 540, that would be different, but I couldn't pass medical for those rides.

Let me put it this way.. I was put in the back of a Super Decathlon (Actually I went on my own free will) and the instructor was told to make me puke. I had a blast! Just under an hour and both of us were getting a little queasy. Hammerhead stalls, 4 point barrel rolls, 8 pt. barrel rolls Outside loop, inside loop.... Roller coasters bore me now.
Just wait until you are in a trainer 172 and the door pops open in a steep left turn. Talk about a rush!
