Good morning guys.

Rick many people are convinced they would die some horrible painful death if they went 24 hours without internet access. It is good you survived. I knew you would you are tough, and like most of us grew up without the internet and cell phones.

I have spent some time investigating engine swaps for my El Camino. It is a 1986 model and most of the web sites have engines for vehicles from 70s to 1985 or 1987 to the 90s. It is like they are trying to make it difficult. I have learned the 1986 was the 1st year of the one piece rear main seal. That means a different flexplate. In 1987 the heads were changed so the intake and exhaust bolt pattern is different.

Oh well if it was easy anyone could do it.

Morning Glen, Rick, Doc.

7 AM meeting scheduled to talk some financial stuff and the guy never showed. Nice. Lovely way to start the day.

Sat there and drank coffee and admired the college girls.

Yea, a LS1. 350 HP!

GM Performance 17801267 GM Performance Parts LS1 5.7L Engine

And I while I am in there should replace the automatic transmission with a 6 speed manual. Then I will need a Ford 9 inch rear end to replace the fragile stock 8 inch rear end on the car now. And while I am in there I might as well replace the rear brakes with discs and upgrade the suspension. The front brakes will need to be beefed up to compensate for the bigger rear brakes and that suspension needs to be all replaced. I might as will go to electric power steering to clean up the engine compartment, and then the instruments panel will need to be replaced and while I am doing that I should replace the dash and then replace the cloth seats with leather. That won't cost more than 30 grand and take a couple of years.

Nope, I just need a new engine to replace my current engine. I will go from 115 hp to 290 or more for well under 3 grand if I do it right. I did the math and if I continue to drive it about 12,000 miles per year. If the new engine goes 300,000 miles I will 82. I figure by the year 2036 I will have had to convert it to run on hydrogen. The car will be 50 years old!
