A moment of sheer awesomeness:
Yesterday, I awoke in time to make a morning run/lounging down to my favorite hangout...the cigar bar. I arrived promptly at 1000hrs, walked in, grabbed a soda and began the selection process, finally settling on a LFD Airbender. After claiming MY seat in the establishment and changing the channel from sports to the utterly depressing news, I commenced relaxing. Finishing my first cigar, I questioned whether I had time to smoke another.....screw it, I'll smoke half here and half on the way home. I settled in again until the witching hour came, settled up my tab and got the old beast fired up ('81 SIII). As I'm driving down the road, I hear a few honks and the first thoughts through my head are those of any Series owner 'Oh Fark, what fell off now?' Then I see a gentleman slowly pass by in his drop top Bentley....smoking a cigar and waving. In that moment, I swear, there was enough sheer awesome testosterone present that, properly harnessed, it could have cured cancer, AIDS and Parkinson's......ok, maybe not, but it was pretty cool.

back from the range, did some serious shootin'

first 4x20 shots for the competition in .22, offhanded at 25 meter
169
146
146
142 (out of 200)

Not gonna win, just need to shoot another 2 so i got my 20

Then shot some .45 selfloads
them wadcutters are still to light at 8.4grain AA7 powder, they barely cycle and i can tell fom the sooth on the outside of the casing, that they simply don't expand enough for a gas seal..
one of the 7.8 loads was even weaker then it should have been.. it was so weak the bullet went to 25 meter, bounced off the ballistic plate without deforming and rolled back to the firing line, go figure.

The soft loads did something to the gun as at one point the gun chambered a round, it went to battery
but my trigger would not pull, hammer did not fall and the slide seemed jammed when i tried to cycle.
another round, same thing, a factory round, same thing.field stripped the gun, couldn't find anything wrong no change after i reassembled.

Only when i got a snap cap in there did the hammer fall ..
And then it was good again..

Me thinks that the weak loads got some dirt in the trigger mechanism. dunno what else could cause this.

My 230 grain ball with Vitha Vuori N340 was good to go , no problems with that, that'll be my plinking ammo

After that a friend introduced me to the 100 meter rifle shooting.
Shot a 7.5 Swiss , standing, iron sight first shot was on the card,
then 2 shots from bench rest, got a 7 and 8 out of that.

then i shot a Springfield 1903 in 30-06, standing, got two 6'es out of that

Not bad considering it was my first go at the 100 meter, at least that's how i rate it..

Just took the precious down to the frame, it's a first, but not to hard once you get around to it.
Didn't find any damage or unusual wear.. Did find a lot of flaky powder dirt in the slide and frame.

So me thinks that jam was caused by fouling from that underpowered round, which failed to pressurize the brass enough, to seal it to the chamber..

Taking a break, have Peggy and a twin axle trailer stuffed to the gills. I am going to have my house back tonight.

Stijn, my P90 doesn't like leadheads, I have to shoot jacketed rounds, you may have the same issue. I determined that the feed ramp on mine is too steep and the lead digs into the ramp and hangs up just long enough to not allow the slide to come all the way down to a closed position. (It happened to Dave) So I shoot JHP double deep with some "extra" powder. They never jam and they always go down range.

Let me know if it doesn't work and you need me to send over a trained assasin.
Though i think it won't be Boris, he's got a bit of a cough... But Bubba is All game with the colder weather he's Fitrep A+ right now... I think he's ready for a contract mission.

i'm not using leadheads, but copper plated ..
I didn't have a feed or extract issue, it was the hammer that would not fall.
and the thumb safety that would not engage, despite the fact that the gun was in battery..
It has never done that till now, right after that really weak load..
Never seen that much powder residue so far in the gun.. well past the chamber
And low loads simply don't seal the brass to the chamber, so i'm pretty sure that's the cause.

Yep, that's the gotcha of the gas operated pistol, it's gotta have enough gas to operate it properly. I never had any problems reloading for my 357mag Desert Eagle, or my 99mm/45acp Jerico. Just went the measurements recommended by the Hornady book.

Oh, and a really nice set of scales helps a lot on reloading too.

Just bought a newer digger truck a few weeks ago. This pickup is only the second truck we've bought this month, third this year. The fleet has been getting tired, and we have the money right now.

I'm just low because it's mistery powder...Don't have that issue with the VihtaVuori..But I feel the AA7/Lovex powder is there, so might as well use it up..
All i gotta do is find the sweet spot

I was first in the 5.9/6.5 range, now i tried 7.8 to 8.4 range
It's improving, i'll get it right and then i'm making a big batch to get rid of the powder..
from then on, nothing but VithaVuori...

I have a Lyman digital scales..
