Get off my lawn!
|
My windshield wipers get regular use. Every trip to Porsche Parade has had rain. The drive to Savannah had several rain showers. I think my wipers work just fine.
While I was doing my emngine swap on the El Camino I had to drive the 911 every day. We had one very heavy rain. I had no problems with the wipers.

Naa, just paint the rest of the car to match the while deck lid. Then your 911 will look real good.

My program works. The results are based off of my car's torsion bar sizes, tire diameter, etc. ![]() It does more than that, too.

![]() The older you get, the more important it is to protect your nose from the sun. This is the recommended sun shade.

OK, so the colors did not transfer to jpeg, but you can see that wheel spacers don't change the effective spring rate much for the front.

Is that due to the extra mass of the spacer or the different track?

Different track.
If I could draw an accurate model of the front suspension in Solidworks I could get some mass properties and calculate the total load on the tire due to unsprung weight, spring, and damper while going through a bump.

I can also find what angle to index the torsion bar for a given static A-arm angle or for a given ground clearance (if I take a couple inches off of the position of the torsion bar axis, that is pretty much the bottom of the car).

Thats part of Auto CAD, right? I only used Auto CAD once, since that is what the IME department uses for their laser cutter/etcher. I am reasonably fluent in Solidworks, but not Autocad.

Rats! We are an Autodesk office. Oh well I'll install it and learn it the hard way.

Solidworks has built-in tutorials that are pretty good. Maybe look for some in AD?

You asked for it
I hop in Peggy this morning and the left head light blew, no biggie. I get to work go into the store room and grab a seal beam and head back outside. Break both adjusters in the process of removing the headlight. Okay they are 26 years old, it happens. Have to order new ones. I go turn on my computer only to find out that my boss didn't do any of the entry stuff for the last 3 days last week, so I spend an hour entering all the inspection stickers they wrote while I was off. Then the state police computer crashes, so I am going to have to hand write everything and go back and re enter it all later. I find they left 8 vehicles because they didn't feel like dealing with them, so I started my day doing thursday and friday's stuff. My adjusters finally get there and they are broken in the box. Peggy's headlight bucket is taped into the the radiator support. Now it is lunch time. One of the guys brings in a Peterbuilt road tractor while I am eating and proceeds to have the engine expire in my inspection bay. Guess what I am again 3 hours behind the clock and not the least bit happy about it. Peggy stuff is understandable, the rest of that crap was avoidable. I don't know why I ever take time off because I always come back to a frigging mess.

I think my batteries are almost fully charged again. Went to bed at 6 pm last night and I am now getting up.
