Rick, good to hear you quit the smokes, best thing to do..

Have a detective coming over to my house to ask me bout my dad, 1st one to do so since he buggered off more then a year ago.. bit late , but hey, i'll give him a coffee and tell him i don't know jack chit. Then i'll spill my guts on where i think he might be...i'de laugh my ass off if my suggestion would turn out to be true.. cause it's just a wild ass guess and it would be really funny if he got screwed by the one he screwed up in childhood and came up on top anyway..

I'll ask the cops if they do find him, if they can let me know when they bring him back so i can welcome him at the airport and compliment him on his nice jewelery (cuffs)...

Well, according to the letter I got today my driver's license is suspended as of April 6th.

Seems Texas says I failed to make my court date or pay the fine for that speeding ticket I got back in November!!!

This is some serious BS, I want to know where to complain so it matters.

First I get a ticket for the maximum fine for speeding and I wasn't speeding. All I did was pass a pickup that was doing 50mph in a 70, and in a passing zone! There was no radar involved, the assumed the pickup was speeding and I must have been going fast enough for the maximum fine if I passed it.

The officer and the information on the ticket says I can make my court appearance to appeal the ticket by phone.

I call to make my appearance. Of course they don't care what my story is I am guilty. But they offer me a differed sentence for half the fine and say they will mail me the paperwork that I should return with a check.

I don't receive any paperwork. Instead I get a letter saying I have failed to appear or pay the fine and I must pay the fine plus a late fee within 15 days of receiving the letter.

I call the next day. They have NO RECORD of me making my phone appearance or the deferred sentence!!! The only option I have is to pay the fine plus another fine for failure to appear.

The fines show on my bank statement. I am pissed because I feel like I got screwed by the Texas courts.

Now I get a letter from Oklahoma saying my license is suspended because I failed to appear or pay the fine in Texas with a copy of the letter telling me I had 15 days to pay!!!!! What?

Yes, estoril E36 sedan. Lux package. All the bells and whistles. It was a damn nice car. Just wasn't being driven, and mom wanted something newer and in her eyes more reliable.

I just have to go appear before an officer and show I paid the fines to appeal the suspension.

At this point I don't think there is much a lawyer can do. I would have gotten a lawyer to handle the ticket in the first place, but was told by others that had gotten tickets like mine all I had to do was call and I would get a deferred sentence so the ticket would not go on my record. And that's what I thought was happening until the failure to appear notice arrived, then I felt pretty much screwed over by the Texas Department of Tourist Taxation and Anti-tourism.

It's pretty dam f'd up when you have to pay a lawyer to handle a freaking traffic violation!!!

No offence, but , calling is pointless in a court or legal procedure cause , as you just noticed, it gives you no legal proof whatsoever..

would have been better to send a fax. and even better to send a letter by registered mail

always get proof of those things.

I wish I could run the vacuum. I probably shouldn't have moved some stuff around. Ah, well.

How's the weather this fine morning?
