I thought it was the power that was deadly. V*A.

Power=current=amps. It's the amps that kill.

I'll let Jeff correct me. He's the pro, I'm the amateur.

No, power=volts*amps or I^2*R or V^2/R. Watts. Energy=Power*time. Watt-hours.

I'll try to remember tomorrow to ask what the full throttle and short-circuit volts and amps are.

Good night everyone.

That wasn't a formula, Max. Okay, leave the "power" out of it. Current and amps are interchangeable. Anyway, you're sober, I'm not.

Amps kill, voltage doesn't, except in rare occasions, like the stories that you hear when a person is tazed and dies. Tazers are high voltage, low amperage. The high voltage messes with your muscle control and nerves, but one usually lives.

I did

She came over yesterday at noon. And she stayed until midnight.
We had a wonderful time. (and yes we did end up in bed a couple of times)
This being in love thing is awesome!
The weird family situation is not resolved yet but he knows somebody else is in the picture.
Mom seems to be coming round and wants the ex bf to start and look for another place...
Slowly but surely we're getting there.

Sorry, disappeared for a minute because I turned my power off

Dave and Max, I'll just go back and read your posts properly before I reply.

I suppose that for a given amount of power, the higher voltage type is more dangerous because it can breakdown stronger dielectric materials and so jump longer gaps to get to ground, which means more chances you will be in that path to ground.

Good going, G. Wish I could find somebody. But I would rather not have such a mess of a background situation going on.

It is a strange situation to deal with. But I don't feel like I have another option than dealing with it. I want her.
I've been worried about the outcome too but days like yesterday tell me we're on the right path.
Whoda thunk that a happy single like me would get caught up in a Shakespearian kind of lovestory? :-)

How's this.....

Your both right.

Current really is the killer, but it comes down to resistivity when it does the nasty business on someone. It's electron current flow that interupts your ticker.

Current is measured in amps and it appears the you guys over there use the terms interchangeably.

Resistance and current are inversely proportional if voltage is constant.

BTW Max, you have the equation for power correct. And higher voltages causes a dielectric breakdown of the skin. This produces perspiration and thus increases conductivity (less resistance, higher current). Result is usually cardiac arrest.

Usually happens to us all at some point G.

Go with love while you have it and enjoy.
