Tweeze, back in the stone ages before HD displays to show a presentation to a large room people used 35mm slides and a slide projector. I used to make to slides for a living. We would charge a minimum ot 8 bucks a slide for just one line of text. Multiple lines and multiple colors coud be 50 to 80 bucks per slide. Charts were just a dream.

I spent days working on a 4.77 PC running DOS 3.3 and a $5,000 software package named Mirage to make the graphics.

I remember one presentation I built for a Dr. It was about a procedure he helped develop called a Percutaneous Discectomy for a Herniated Disc. He had hand scribbled notes, so think Dr. handwriting and I turned it into a slide show for him to present to a medical conference. It took me over a month and it cost him about what my I paid for my brand new 1974 914 2.0.

I saved the entire presentation to a 5.25 inch floppy!

We just rolled out video conferencing integrated within webex.

I put a piece of black electrical tape over the camera in my PC. Don't want anyone to see me playing Tetris while I'm not paying attention in the training.

Not now, got a meeting with the Bob's. Yeah, they called me at home.

I was absolutely amazed- stunned when I drove on the road through Montana de Oro State Park. There is like a full-on forest of big Eucalyptus trees. At first I thought it was very pretty but quickly it hit me. Not one of those trees is "supposed" to be there. I imagine there would be oaks there instead. The darn Eucalyptus have than sap/resin that has those chemicals that kills off the native stuff, and there wood is s***. Breaks off in wind storms. Big hazard there. And they are super flammable with that resin. Another big hazard.

All that gold-colored foxtail grass (well, it is green now in SLO) is non-native, too. Brought over as seeds in the hooves of spanish livestock from what I hear.

I've had one webex conference already, and I have a feeling with the internship I've taken, there will be many more.....

Besides, men are all assertive when they can be somewhat anonymous. Get Sid or Joe in the same room as me, I would put them in their place and they would be running off with their tail between their legs. Believe me, I can carry my own. I have to deal with anesthesiologists. :P
It is amazing how differently so many people behave when on writing anonymously. I say stuff in this thread I would never say out loud, and things I have never told anyone else. It feels good to be able to put that stuff out there, though. Like a free psychotherapy session. It has also been a source of good advice on a few occasions (in between all the nut punching suggestions).

Found out the girl is going to be here one quarter next academic year. (By way of asking if she'd be interested in Formula Electric next year). I'll be here all next year.

Life is certainly more interesting this quarter. The SAE car, and a new motivation to go out and actually meet girls. I don't seem to have much idle time anymore, but the excitement is addictive.

It is a nice day here this morning. There is some humidity from the approaching wet stuff that is keeping temps nice. It is sunny and blue sky now but off towards Morro Bay the sky appears darker and cloudier. Not sure when the rain is supposed to hit.

I've seen it rain sideways such that it does not hit the ground, merely draining onto the ground.

So my Dad "tagged" me in his profile picture (him in front of a 956 at Rennsport) on facebook and now it shows up on my wall like a post. Not that I care but it seems like someone with more friends would have their wall full of crap from their friends tagging them in photos. Yes, my Dad uses facebook more than I do. I check certain things like the FSAE page regularly but otherwise not much. I just recently updated it since it was feeling stale. It feels stupid to be talking to myself though.

Oklahoma had some hail yesterday in near Weatherford that was 3 inches across. That will ruin your day.

Fortunately it was mostly in the sparsely populated areas.

Not much corn around there. It is mostly wheat. It was bad on roofs, windshields & all crops.

OK, I am going to drive over to the grocery store now. Haven't driven the BMW in a good few days. Need to give it some exercise.

It also means I can listen to my new tunes on a much better sound system than my computer.

Yup, mostly wheat, and big hail like that will lay it all down, not a good thing...

You know I think it may have been in Woodward that the hail hit.

Hail that big can kill a horse or a cow or a dog or a person.
