Back from a great day at Phillip Island.
The old girl ran great.
I had a big scare on the 150kmh sweeper onto the straight, scared the crap out of me.
Dont know how I did not hit the wall, but I did not.
Slowed down a bit after that and enjoyed the day.
Racing against all the new M3s and GTRs, for the first time the 930 felt like an old car, not slow, but old.
The brakes on the modern cars are awesome.
Still beat alot of the new cars and all of the older ones.
I have come to see just how under tyred my car is.
A situation I will sort out over the next few months.
Anyhow, that was that.
Back to the same track in two weeks, then a break for winter and some mods to the car.
The great thing with Porsches is the fact that I can drive 2 hours to the track ,drive like a crazy man all day, then drive 2 hours home.
All in a 32 year old car.
A credit to the guys that made our cars back in the day.

Vas, are the newer cars lighter, or have better tires? Unless your brakes are fading you should be able to lock up the tires which is as much braking as there is. Maybe a little more rear bias.

Eff it , i'm headin for the range... Dispatch a couple of mags of .308 at 100 meters and then some .45 , also at 100, for kicks.

My 928 has ABS so it is a chore to get the setup just right for max braking. A combination of rear bias, tire grips and rear damper rebound. Too much rear bias and the rears lock and kick on ABS too soon. Too little rear bias and the front locks and kick on ABS too soon. Too soft rear rebound and the rears lock too soon, to firm and the car doesn't rotate on turn-in. Change tires and/or tire pressures and the whole setup is off.

I would love an adjustable rear bias valve. But haven't found a suitable replacement for the stock Porsche parts which require swapping the valve to change bias.

Instead of heading to the range, I been heading to the garage and flying my rc helis.

Can almost hover good now with fixed pitch heli. Still takes the whole 2 car garage to keep from slamming it into stuff though.

When I was running my BMW at Summit Point part of my pre-race prep was pulling the ABS and trac fuses. These systems are reactionary and actually screw me up. The systems have no Idea I am about to start easing off the clutch in second while hitting the brakes from triple digit speeds. Nothing feels better than a maneuver like that and having the ABS decide to do it's thing

Have fun, Rick. Sounds good. I get to take my son to his golf lesson and then go to a 6 year old birthday party. Fun times I tell you.
