What was the military doing last week, Mike? They drove me nuts. Helicopters going from North to South twice a day last Thurs, Fri, and Sat. They fly so low overhead and are so big and loud. Please vector them elsewhere.

Just start shining a laser pointer at em, that's the international signal for 'please go elsewhere, you're bothering me'

what's funny...is that so-cal is hands down the busiest airspace in the world. so many airports in a small area, with terrain and other obstacles. but we just put up with stuff. it's funny when i hear other controllers talk about how "busy" they are. the only other atc facility that really has the complexity and volume is new york approach. the albuquerque and texas facility have a country club reputation in the agency.

It's like a little earthquake every time one flies overhead. Very annoying.

chicago tower and approach are busy...but there is only really one airport out there. lots of smaller places. chicago tower is a very busy facility...but remember...tower controllers only deal with airspace within 20 miles or so of the facility. we control traffic over socal, nevada, arizona, and parts of utah.
something to consider....when somebody gets hired as a controller, if they fail out of training at a tower..they are fired. if you fail out of training as a center controller....you become a tower controller.

that happens on a daily basis, no joke. funny story...some idiots thought they would laser a helicopter with one of the high power green lasers. the only problem...it was a police helicopter equipped with FLIR. took about 3 minutes to catch them.

Socal isn't the only place, there's been some odd military traffic here between the mcas and HAAF.

sept is usually the busiest military traffic time. they are budgeted so much fuel, mx, flight time, etc. so they are in a rush to burn it up before the fiscal year. we see lots of random flights during that time.

if they burn a few out they have fewer tests to grade.

Wow, your summer starts in May? Or is that just graduating Seniors? I usually get finals on my birthday or else the week after.

Took a simulated LaserGrade test on my laptop. 80%. Passing, still would like to do better.

I like to hear your reports, Dave. Are you still planning on flying Thursday? it looks like the weather might be alright.

I'm scheduled for tomorrow as well. We'll see what happens with the weather. Tomorrow's plan was to fly a bit North of here.
