Good Morning folks. Today it the drive is to Mirror lake. Round trip is 206 miles. With a long lunch 6 hours total time. I have driven 2,100 miles and added another quart of oil yesterday afternoon when we got back. So far just 2 quarts in a little over 2,000 miles. Not bad for a 145,000 mile stock 911 with no engine work ever.

Up to a quart every 500 miles is acceptable according to Porsche.

John Temple said he and Steve enjoyed the canyon drive.

All four of the Oklahoma families were on that tour.

We ate dinner with some friends I met in Portland and another couple that I met in Charlotte. They knew each other and are form the same region. One guy I chatted with said he really enjoyed the rally we held at the Oklahoma Parade back in 1996.

John had the roof down at the start of the drive. Then the rain hit. He had to pull over and put the roof up.

Actually, when you get to 25-30 years, you're allowed to have your man card back. The women figure you're harmless at that point.

Philosophy test went well I feel. The multiple choice stuff was easy and the essay we had a choice between two questions, both of which one could easily answer.

I think he was expecting a couple paragraphs. I ended up writing like 4 pages (single sided) and I basically tried to disprove the counter-argument to the argument that was in Phaedo about pre- and post-existance of the soul. We were just asked to state the argument and one reasonable objection to it. I was feeling good this morning and wanted to say something I guess so I went for the one that was a little juicier.

The thing was, the argument about opposites was more for reincarnation and the pre-existance and post-existance was more from the theory that all knowledge is recollection. So the argument we were supposed to disprove I kind of tried to prove but then said that it doesn't really apply to the soul.

Wow, I just got some terrible news forwarded to me from my Dad. Joe Tischler was a guy who lived near us and we visited when I was in EAA years ago and while he was building the plane.

Quote:
KVTA News Wednesday July 11, 2012
A Ventura County woman is dead, her husband injured, after their light plane crashed on takeoff from an Arizona airport. According to the Navajo County Sheriff's Department, 62-year-old Sandee Tischler of Thousand Oaks was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 65-year-old husband Joe Tischler was injured and was listed in stable condition at Flagstaff Medical Center. The couple had just taken off from the airport in Winslow Wednesday afternoon when their plane crashed about 300 yard northwest of the airport. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the NTSB. According to the FAA registry, the plane was a COZY-CANARD III. It was a fixed wing single engine airplane classified as experimental and registered to Joseph Tischler in Thousand Oaks.

We are back from mirror lake.

We stopped at this waterfall. Provo river falls. Very pretty.

Tonight I get to have a beer brewed by D. I have been waiting for two years now. No pressure D.

hah! i have the beer chilling. it did get stirred up a bit, being moved from basement, so you may have to endure some cloudiness. i am much more concerned about the food being up to your standards, given your previous photos and comments re. the layouts at the club events.

Hey dude, when it comes to food I am easy. Mustard is about the only flavor I really dislike. My wife does not like sweet potatoes. So as long as your specialty is not some mustard - sweet potato combo you are safe.

It sure does not need to be fancy for us. The biggest reason I am shooting pics of the food at the banquet was to show how different they are from my normal fare.

Well the meal from the 2nd Indy Jones movie might be a bit much, but we like about anything. Veal is a physiological dislike for both of us. If I did not know it was veal I would love it. Eating baby animals is a tough thing, I almost said a tough thing to swallow, but that is a bad pun.

So, no monkey brains, big bugs, or sweet potatoes with mustard. Mrs Carrera actually likes mustard.

the road up parley's canyon is sure rough. some moron in a white audi passed me doing well over 100 (not that the speed bothers me, traffic was heavy) and went into the far left lane, spewing sand and gravel behind him in a huge cloud. i slowed down to 60 and moved far right just to avoid it. and my car is rather ratty.
