The conversation is slowing down a bit here - back to the 'chest thread' for a bit, make that awhile - just to avoid any perceived double entendre

Cheers

Good afternoon folks.

Drive by howdy.

Tonight I HAVE to wash my 911. I can't stand it all dirty from a road trip. It looks rode hard and put up wet. I gotta purdy it up some.

We watched the Matrix (first one) today in philosophy class as a prelude to Descartes. (Well, all but the ending.) It is a good movie but the special effects that have now become cliches seem hokey at first until you remember that they were new back then.

It was funny to see all the huge CRT monitors and the big cell phones. And internet through phone lines.

I also kept having lines trigger memories of song titles. "White Rabbit" (the whole pill thing) and "Welcome to the Machine" were obvious but then there was "Us and Them" and "Search and Destroy" (Iggy Pop) in the dialogue. There was also the "Breathe, just breathe, Neo" and Run Like Hell (when you see an agent).

I think the writers had a similar taste in music to me.

It had been a while since I watched this movie. It really is a pretty good story.

It went great, I have a sunburned scalp now.... Buzzcut and no sunscreen....

Trip was very nice, countryside was very dry and rocky, but nice.
We drove past Julio Iglesias house, Antonio Banderas' mom lives in Ojen, and we drove past her house too...
Had some paella, saw some dear, you know, the usual stuff...

the matrix is more a study of epistemology, rather than descartes. IMO.

Well, the point of it was mostly about doubting that what we see/experience can be believed, as Descartes did. And what is real? How do we know what is real?

Then there are the people who prefer the Matrix to the harsh reality. Many of them would be in PARF.

The class is called "Metaphysics and Epistemology"

Uh oh. One of the cats is limping. One hind toe is a bit swollen, and he flinches a little when I touch it. Looks like I may have to sneak him into the OR and fluoro his foot.

I think the ; and ' keys are wearing out on my laptop. They feel weird. The spring is sort or mushy feeling and not a nice smooth motion down to the bottom of its travel with nice spring back.
