I had one ritzy woman patient who was allowed to have a bottle of Scotch in her room. Had it on a fancy little tray and everything. She had a glass every night before bed.

Best shot of the night and it's not even that good. Good learning experience, though. Shutter was open for 25 seconds, probably a touch too long, but I may have missed the meteor if it had been shorter.

Hi guys. Nice pic, Dave. We were clouded up overnight here so watching the meteor shower was not in the cards. Also, like Rick, the light pollution at my place in DC is a bummer, too. Oh well.

Morning. Jim. We'll have to wait for the reports from around the country. The news hyped it as having up to 100 meteors an hour at peak - which I stayed for, best it was to be in years. There were some good streaks, but far and few between.

Yup, clear sky most nights. More likely to see a satellite with the naked eye than a meteor but I've seen quite a few (more electronically). You'd be surprised how many showers occur, many time it's during daylight hours, so we don't get to see them with the naked eye.

For some reason there are more meteor showers between the two tropical delineations than any where else in the atmosphere. I remember one of our physicists at work telling my why once but I can't remember what the reason was. The Tropic of Capricorn is only 25km north of us.

Brrrrrr. It's bloody cold outside. I've got a street light shining into my back yard - too much ambient light. The milky way is directly overhead, not sure if I may be too far south to see the shower. When we go bush in a few days I may have a better opportunity to see. Beautiful clear night though.
