Wait, the gig is for 10/19? There's more than enough time to find a replacement. Full or part time.

Getting old sucks but it sure beats the alternative. It all comes down to overall health of mind and body. The man that started our company took early retirement at age 92. He was still a licensed pilot. He flew a lot of different airplanes over 60 years. He never had a incident that damaged the airplane or had an in flight emergency. He is 97 now and still drives and looks like he is in his 70s. I wanna be that healthy in my 70s.

Max, read over and over and over. As I have gotten older, I have taken more risks because I don't give a crap anymore. I would rather be embarrassed/sad, whatever for a little while than to have regret.

It is easy to recognize those situations after the fact. But how do you know when you are living it for the first time?

I tend to relive embarassing/sad moments. So for me it doesn't last only a short while, the pain or self-loathing stays with me. Regret is a more comfortable feeling of numbness.

I won't disagree.

I just keep on distracting myself with other stuff and go on my way.

It's human nature to relive those moments.

"Too often we are scared.
Scared of what we might not be able to do.
Scared of what people might think if we tried.
We let our fears stand in the way of our hopes.
We say no when we want to say yes.
We sit quietly when we want to scream.
And we shout with the others
when we should keep our mouths shut.
Why?
After all,
we do only go around once.
There's really no time to be afraid.
So stop.
Try something you're never tried.
Risk it.
Enter a triathlon.
Wrist a letter to the editor.
Demand a raise.
Call winners at the toughest court.
Throw away your television.
Bicycle across the United States.
Try bobsledding.
Try anything.
Speak out against the designated hitter.
Travel to a country where you don't speak the language.
Patent something.
Call her.
You have nothing to lose.
And everything
everything
everything to gain."

-Barry Sanders

'Course, it helps when you're supernaturally gifted at something, as Barry was.

For the most part, the things I regret most are the things I did do and realized I should not have.
