Well, I hope it's not aluminum. I just would use something like green. You can apply it after assembly.

Loctite Threadlocker Green 290 from Loctite Adhesives

I'd torque them down with my fingers.

Here's what it says for red:

Loctite® Threadlocker Red 271™ is designed for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces. It protects threads from rust and corrosion and prevents loosening from shock and vibration. It is only removable once cured by heating up parts to 500°F (260°C)

(emphasis added by me)

What something says, doesn't always mean. Real life trumps theory.

My El Camino heads and exhaust manifolds are cast iron. The dang bolts get loose by themselves. I hope to never need to take it apart again. My next step is to switch to studs. I hear if I cut a small slot in the threads and then install the threads into the head they will stay forever. Then just nuts to hold the exhaust in place.

I'm still offering up my fingers... Or just jamb some paper towels in the holes and then the bolts.

No thanks, fingers are too fat. Try toothpicks. Works with wood!

Hahahahahahaha. That's so cute. Sharyn and I had a great giggle.
