If you've got AAA, try them for car insurance. I have my 911 insured through a collector's policy. It started out at $250/yr, and got bumped up to a whopping $307 last year. They shifted their age requirements (of the car, not the owner), but see if your Targa qualifies. I can occasionally drive to work (I have the Civic insured through a regular AAA policy, so they know I have a DD). 5000 miles/year. Agreed upon value. And the few times in my life I've needed to file a claim, I've never found AAA to be difficult to use or stingy.

I have thought about collectors ins., but when I had checked into it before, it was always less expensive to have two cars on one policy and get the multi-car discount.

I'm actually happy with the savings I should see over the next 6/12 months. I'm just not happy having to spend all this money I don't have all at the same time.

it took me forever to get the headgasket replaced on the 951. of course, a lot of that was getting parts from the local specialty shop (those fkrs will never see another dime of my money, but that is another story, several stories, actually) and waiting for their sorry arses to order stuff. i'd have been better off ordering from pelican, it took them so long.

i've done three 944 headgaskets, now, and i can get that stuff apart pronto. i take a long time to clean stuff, however. then, i can get it back together again, pronto.

When I work on my cars I find it takes me 25 hours to do 9 hours of work. I am not fast, but i am thorough. I often paint a bracket or fix other things "while I am in there". The advantage of working on my own cars. All I get paid is the beer I drink and I bought that already.
