The fuel pump will cut on if you jump it but, even after changing the DME relay and the sensors it will not cut on when you try to start it. Hubs turned it over by hand(which is good because it's not locked up obviously) but we have no fuel, no spark etc.

yea my feelings are mixed also but, in a perfect world it would a nice running 2.5...between the 944 forum here and 944 online. We '44 people seem to have the most problems.

The stuff ZZ Top plays is not complicated at all , but no matter how much I try I can not manage that level of distortion without either feeding back or having the cops called on me. I would love to know how that much overdrive is actually managed.

I'm sure hubby has yanked the fusebox and fixed the potential water damage, and done all of the power and ground pin tests at the DME, right?

Janet, if it was my car, I would work on getting it running with the stock engine, drive it a year or two, and only then consider whether to swap engines or not.

In fact I have some business cards printed up with my contact info with the El Camino Central logo to had to people that ask me about my Elky. More people ask about my Elky than the 911.

About the only event the club has is a monthly breakfast. We have done a couple of drives down Rt 66. I don't think we have had any women even show up except the wife of the Air Force Sergeant. We did a complete overhaul on his Elky while he was serving in Iraq.

yep, we spent several days outside, phones in hand testing everythign that PP and 944 threads told us to. Neither of us knew much about Porsches so we started with the basics, timing belt and sensors and then moved on to the supposed electrical issues. The crappy part was everytime we needed a part we'd have to drive across town almost an hour and hope the import parts store had it. It' makes trouble shooting slow and painful.

One of the members has a 57 Elky. He was going to stuff a 454 in it but we all talked him into putting the original number matching engine back in.

I can't imagine ever not having some sort of light duty pickup bed vehicle. After 21 years and 300,000 miles I think I will just keep it.

I went cheap an bought a 2001 Mazda B3000 out in SoCal. The last pickup I had I sold shortly after getting married (30something years ago), and used the proceeds to buy a Volvo for my new wife. It sounds on the surface like a man-card violation; however, I got an MG for myself.

I really like having a truck.

G'day Jim, real good. Got shopped out today but enjoyed the eye candy. Last full day tomorrow, hooking up with a mate and his Missus for lunch.

You never really know how many friends you have until you own a full sized pick up
