My mother used to volunteer at the local zoo. She drove around in a zoo van and took a 6 feet long boa constrictor, a two foot alligator, and an owl to schools. She showed up at my office with Charlie the 6 foot boa. Some folks ran for the hills. Most were shamed into touching the snake because an harmless old Grey haired lady was holding it.

Of course my mom had a pet tarantula named Griselda. I will see if I can find the picture of her holding the spider. It was the size of my hand.

Sorry Jeff, that was a bit rude of me...

I'm a geek - program manager for a tech company that does VOIP and contact center collaboration systems.

At my other house we had this big China Berry Tree in our back yard. It got infested with Box Elder bugs. They have black wings, gray bodies and a red spot on their butt. All the pest control people told me they were so prolific there were impossible to get rid of. There were so many they would turn the back of my house black sunning themselves. It was unsettling because they would all run and hide when anyone went out into the back yard. In the spring I went out and caught 3 Tarantulas that were crossing the road and released them under the shed next to the tree. In a month all the box elder bugs were gone! I was pretty proud of myself.

Three years later the neighbor two doors down told me he found a huge tarantula walking across his back yard and killed it. I just don't know what it is with people and killng spiders. They eat insects!

I guess there was at least one spider left because the box elder bugs didn't come back.

Mornin' gang.

It's been busy this morning. Already took the 964 to the DMV inspection station for my biannual safety/smog test. Passed easily. Then walked the dog over to the groomer. She's been looking pretty mangy lately. Now for a little breakfast.

Speaking of critters... I am taking my boys to a "leaping lizards" activity. I guess talking about all the creepy crawlers we have been talking about. If I hold a snake, I will post a pic. Just for Joe and Azzy to enjoy.

Did you mean to use a green font?

That is a stupid statement otherwise. I don't want any snakes in my house on on my property but the world needs snakes or we would be overrun with rodents.

Spiders and bats are important as well but I don't want to have them in my house either.

My mom says if its your year, then it is going to bad. It isn't like the American tradition that it is good. My mom is very superstitious and when it was the year of the tiger, she kept telling me, "just wait until the new year, then things will get better." ????? Yeah, but then again my mom says if you dream about water, you are gonna come into money...

No kidding. I always thought it meant to get up & go to the bathroom, or you'll be swimming.
