Well the engine is out. The transmission is separated. Pics tomorrow. Time for bed now.

gute nacht. i got the fcar back today after it getting a major service done the for the last month. on the drive home, the rebuilt waterpump they put on went kaput. they're bringing the flatbed to take the car back down to drop the engine again. ahhh, the joys of italian cars. what do you expect out of an $8600 service? :/

Sorry to hear that, Mike.
That sounds like an Alfa Romeo problem.

no big deal, itll get fixed. i REALLY scored well on the car....the 2 previous owners didnt due the belt service, for fear of what the leakdown and compression numbers might be. well, they were stellar...so for the $8600, i got off cheap. I could sell the car now, and still make 20K on it. but...im probably going to keep it.

school just about done for the semester? i drove through SLO on the way back from an 1800 mile road trip. stopped at a thai place (Royal Thai?) it was so-so...but the town is nice.

We are still on quarters so I am here until June. The fun stuff should be starting soon when we get to test the FSAE car and get the data for my senior project. It will be fun to learn some thing about this camber car concept that aren't in the book.

Yes, but my first goal is to stay in California, and preferrably within a couple hours of the coast (or at least close to a racetrack). HPD (Honda Performance Development) nearby. Is Porsche Motorsport still in Santa Anna?

I think I'd really go for automotive before race team. More stable job, less travel.

i used to drive by a ton of race teams in Indy when I would drive to the airport. Forsythe, Andretti- Green, Tony Stewart, John Force...actually pretty much every IRL team, and lots of drag racing teams.

yep, PMNA is still in santa ana

I'm more looking for a manufacturer than a race team. Like Ford, GM.

Weaver (he posts here on occasion) does the race team thing. Last I heard, he was with an IRL team. But yes, the travel would get old (that's why i left the airline!) also, motorsports is a very fickle industry. Have you seen the manufacturer test tracks up by California City, east of Mojave? I think Honda and Hyundai use those tracks. I see lots of "manufacturer" plates on cars out in the desert. when I first bought my fiat (like the week they came out here), I was cruising around the desert when I ran into 2 Chrysler engineers in a new Dodge Dart at a gas station. They asked how I liked the car. Funny they were testing it almost 2 years before you could buy one.

Dual BS in both Aviation Science and Meteorology. I was about halfway through my MBA before I joined the FAA.

Interesting. I know I see lots and lots of BMWs with camo going up the 101 when I go back from SLO to TO. I saw the E90 M3 and the new M5 in camo (different occasions) on Kanan/Mulholland. I guess they like our roads.

Wow, that sounds hard. How is Aviation Science different from Aerospace Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering?

I have been looking at Lockheed, but I don't think I have the GPA for them. Plus they don't have many positions for mechanical engineers. Seems they need software guys, though.

I just didn't do the matlab, and extra math stuff. I did differential calc (3 classes), and 3 physics classes (electron physics and crap like that). Mostly, I did lots of lab stuff. Aviation Science was a more "holistic" degree (ie: I learned composite fabrication techniques, along with my flying and mechanical classes) It wasn't offered by the school of engineering. I had two schools..the School of Technology and School of Earth Sciences from my university.
