We have all had bad days, and I am no exception, I have had some very hard knocks in my life but today has got to be the absolute worst day of my life.
My daughter has been on a vacation of sorts for the last two weeks, visiting a friend and she came home last night. She was very moody and just very out of sorts, which is nothing unusual for her, but it was a little abnormal. This morning she woke up in a very bad mood and was short with everybody including her kids, that she has been away from for two weeks, I went to work. Beth called me about eight and said Devon was acting out of control and was very worried and was leaving work and heading back home, I beat her there. When I arrived she told me she was done, she can't be a parent, she was leaving. The police were called to cover my ass, she told the cops she was leaving and she got in her car and left. We have a hearing tomorrow at 9am for custody. It looks like we are going to be raising a couple of kids again. I can not wrap my mind around the idea, let alone the ability someone has that can allow them to simply walk away from their own kids. I am numb, I either want to cry or punch something. Sorry for the rant, now someone post me a hourglass shaped redhead

Oh crap Rick.
Reading that bought a tear to my eye, I'm really feeling for you mate and hope things work out okay. I can't understand how a parent can walk away from their kids, but it sounds like your daughter is having some real issues internally. All you can do is be there to support her though it. My daughter has mental health problems and her going right off the rails is something I fear the most.

I'm very sorry to hear that, Rick. It's a pretty bad situation, thankfully you and Beth are there for the grand kids.

Rick! Oh my gosh! I don't even know what to say. Your sweet grand daughter? I wish I was there so I could do something for you. Did your daughter let on what was going on? Oh goodness, my heart goes out for you. Is your grand baby wondering where her momma is? That breaks my heart. I could never ever imagine leaving my baby boys. What can we do for you, Rick?

My daughter is on her own, right now I don't want to see her, talk to her, or have anything to do with her. She has left the state and that is a good thing. I know way too many State Troopers, and am mad enough to make her living hell worse than it already is.
She has mild bi-polar issues but this is something much deeper. I was truly hoping she was going to blow her stack when the cops were here, but alas, she is my daughter and can be very "flat lined" when she has to be to save her own ass.

Thanks guys, I just really needed to vent. Look on the bright side I got an extra day off to play with the kids. I think I tired them out.

Hang in there Rick. I know its a tuff thought but maybe the little ones need you to raise them in a safe loving enviroment.
On a lighter note you still do not need to share the otter pops.......yet.

Stories like this break my heart. Seriously. If I could, I would adopt all the orphans I came I to contact with. That's why I am scared to go and hold those babies in the NICUs that were abandoned by their parents. Scared it would melt my heart and I would have to take the baby home. Oh Rick, it's one thing for your daughter to do this but to look at the kids and be constantly reminded of the sweet kids she left behind. You are a very good granddaddy. Do good for those kids. My heart goes out to you. Big hugs. Let me know if you need anything. Clothes, baby stuff, toys. Let me know what you need.

Rick, I am so sad to hear that news about your daughter.
But I am so thankful l that your beautiful grand kids have you and Beth. I would hate to think what would happen to them if your daughter really wanted to leave the whole parenting thing and you weren't around. Just be thankful that you have them, and that they haven't been abandoned somewhere else, just so your daughter could have what she thinks will be a hassle free life without them. I just don't get mothers who can leave their children, my Mum did that. Your daughter will come to regret the decision, but it may take her quite a few years.

Rick I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. I'm pretty speechless and I have zero advice but, hang in there, kids pick up on stuff so maybe its better for them to have you and beth as stability.
I could never ever ever leave my babies.
