Good Friday morning folks.

The oil cooler is off of the engine. The tops of the cylinders look fairly clean. The oil cooler was seeping just a little. It is off and new seals go back on. I will get the fuel injectors cleaned and flow tested locally. They have never before been off the engine in 145,000 miles. It is going to be nice to have a dry engine and transmission.

Virtually any source of an oil leak will be get a new seal or gasket.

That's great Glen. I remember how pristine my 73E's engine looked when I rebuilt it. But, being a magnesium case meant that was only going to stay clean and dry for limited time.

We live in a country setting also, not a lot of exciting things happen around here.
Highschool kids get on the bus later than the smaller kids. It was like that even when I was in school 10 years ago so there is no "older looking out for younger".
I have no problem with a communal bus stop, I still wouldn't let them walk there unless me or one of the other parents who i talk to all the time was watching.

This world has become even more of a sick sick place (ie: the story this week of teenage girls getting snatched and held captive as sex slaves for a decade, same age as me) it's a little different when it's your babies.

Dilemma: my sister asked me to co-sign for her on a new townhouse that she wants to rent. I can BUT, my sister doesn't have the best of money management skills, hence the need for a co-signer. She is 37 has a good job but has asked me in the past year and a half if she should file bankruptcy and when I told her she should stop going on trips and going out to bars before she went down that avenue, she hung up on me. Let's just say my sisters don't treat me so nice. Soooooo, I am kind of hesitant to sign for her. I know I will experience the wrath of my sister but I feel like I need to watch out for me and my boys this time around. I guess you can call me the nice sister that gets treated like poop. I have loaned her money before just to hear she asked money from my father for the same thing. And of course, I have never seen any money back.

Sigh. I guess reading this, I shouldn't.

Agree if she lets you manage her money for her (assumes you'd even consider doing that). Offer nicely. Otherwise, no to co-signing. She's likely to refuse.

My school district was all at the same time, I do think they are different now since my graduation 10 years ago. I guess I will find out once I have kids. Still irritating on the drive to work. Especially when you see all the parents talking to each other and waving across drive ways to each other. Gives you one of those "REALLY?, this bus just stopped 5 times in less than a blocks distance." moments.

The engine does not get rebuilt, just resealed. The heads are not coming off. For sure a valve adjustment and check the head studs, but unless there is a surprise this is just a re-seal. I have a big pile of sheet metal to clean up this weekend. Golly that will be fun.

It will be nice to see a MUCH cleaner engine. It will not be fresh and new but the leaks will be stopped.

You think that's bad, the schools won't let kids on and off at a "stop" one driveway over. My son has friends, like you said, on the other side of the street and they frown upon walking over there to get on or off the bus. if we weren't in a neighborhood, i'd understand it.

My brother is 2 years older than me and spends his money before he has it. When he was 23/24, he barrowed a good 20-30k from my parents because he was in a hole. Then his worthless POS father in-law convinced him to file bankruptcy. All his debt was forgiven and he assumed he didn't have to pay my parents back. Currently I rent the apartment my parents have and my brother went through a divorce and lives at home with them for free. On numerous occasions have stated that he should get the apartment because he is older. My dad and I laugh at him a lot now and treat him like a child because he acts like a 16 year old with his parents credit card. We are all trying to get him back out the door and on his own. It's a huge up hill battle because he is a huge burden on them and doesn't even give them a hand around the house.

Point of this story, similar situation and if my brother would ask me to co-sign, I would give him a big fat N.O.! He still asks to borrow money from my parents here and there, they just laugh at him and say no chance. The sad thing is, he doesn't get it. Hence why my dad and I talk to him like he is a kid.

Don't do it tweeze....but you didn't need me to tell you that.

I blow money like there's no tomorrow........at least that's how it looks to the outsider watching a 'self employed' 27yo with a fairly worthless degree. In reality, I make myself deals on what I can 'blow' and I think these numbers out in a reasonable and fairly financially prudent manner. We make our own choices, let her live with hers.

Thanks guys. I knew I shouldn't but I guess I just wanted to see if I wasn't being the mean nasty sister who isn't helping her baby sister out.

But I gotta do what I gotta do...

Thanks again for the advice, guys.

Good move Tweze. Lending money to a deadbeat that never has the enough money for normal things but ALWAYS has the money for cigarettes & booze a party is not wise.

I went by and checked on the hole in the ground.

I called the gas company and it will likely be a week from today before they are ready to turn the gas back on. The old line is dripping water and rust.

And the good news is I can still tell the difference between that hole in the ground and my ass.
