Sorry to hear about your dog, Andy.

How is everybody? I am in a grouchy mood. Can October be over already?

Stow that!

It's my birthday month and favorite time of year. Can't you find another month to pick on?

I usually LOVE October. My son's birthday and Halloween is my favorite holiday. But I am so busy this year. I need to suck it up and have FUN!!!

Lu and I were arguing who was going to get the bill for dinner and her and I agreed to arm wrestle for it. Now you have to remember I am 6-4 200'lbs and Lu would be lucky to be half my size. I threw my hand up and she took her pen and stabbed me on the back of my hand. I yanked my hand back and she just looked at me and said "I win" and never ever cracked a smile.

That is hilarious. I think Lu and I are VERY similar. Take note, Sidney. Stay away if I have a fork or pen. Jim, tell Lu thanks for the tip. Now I know how to get the bill if I ever have dinner with Rick and Beth.

Note to self...good decision to just say "thank you" any time someone else offers to pick up the tab.

andy, sorry for your loss.

when we let our last newfoundland go, gigi, i was heartbroken. if we hadn't already gotten a puppy, roxie, i might not have gotten another dog. my wife said to me, "it wouldn't be so heartbreaking, if it wasn't worth it." i'll remember that day and her words until i die.

Successfully shaved with my new razor. Been having lots of ingrown hair issues with the area around my beard that I shave. Read that doing it the old single blade way with soap and a brush helps a ton! So I decided to give it a go.

Time will tell on the ingrown hair front, but I got a much better shave than I've been getting.

Plus that razor just looks cool!

Dad's safety razor is back in style. Have seen the ad on TV with Rick from Pawn Stars. My thoughts were Hmmm...Dad quit using the safety razor because the double edges gave him a closer shave.

So a couple days ago I posted about how the city was going to reseal the street in front of my house. No street parking for a day, and the street was slated to be closed from 6 to 6.

So there's one house three blocks down that's a bit odd. They have a POD out front. Like as if they were moving. But they're not. They've been renovating their front yard. So I thought maybe they were storing gardening tools and supplies there. But while walking by one day I noted through the open POD doors that they've also got bikes, ski equipment, etc in there. So it's kinda morphed into garage-type storage.

But the POD's been there for about 4 months now. In the street in front of their house. (And don't get me started on the little platform he's assembled in the small tree in that little strip of grass (which technically is public property) between the sidewalk and the road. I've seen the guy reading a book and taking a nap in the treefort he's built. A few weeks ago an industrial-sized roll-on trash bin has taken up the remaining space in the street in front of the house.

So they resealed the entire street yesterday for three blocks...except for the patch right in front of this guy's house, as the POD and dumpster made that part of the asphalt inaccessible. So while the entire street is now a nice uniform black, there's an area along the curb in front of this one house that's the old grey asphalt (of slightly lower height than the rest of the resurfaced street). At some point (I presume) this guy's going to get rid of the POD and trash dumpster. And the patch of street in front of his house is going to look out of sync with the rest of the road.

Omg. I am going to whine a bit. My eye is F******* killing me right now. I thought it was getting better but it swelled up again and is really painful. They offered me pain meds on the ER but I turned them down and now, the ED Tylenol isn't cutting it and I am dying. I feel like a wimp but it is such an annoying pain. This is the eye I lost sight in three years ago so it always freaks me out too. Gonna call my cornea specialist in the morning to see if I can get in tomorrow.

I am glad this place is open 24 hours so I can complain and whine all hours of the night.
