This and a dislike of jewelry is why I don't wear my wedding ring.

Oh yeah, mornin' y'all.

OK.....you asked for it.

I was hauling a load through Ohio one night (1978) in a freezing rain. Wiper arms, on the Freightliner I owned at the time, froze up so I stopped to knock the ice off. Rather than tilt the hood open, I stood on the fuel tank, held on to the mirror bracket, and leaned over to reach the wipers. When I jumped down the ring caught on one of the bolts on the mirror bracket and peeled the skin off.
Wrapped my finger ( just the bone remained) in a rag and got my flashlight but couldn't find
the missing digit.
Went into the service area ( Ohio turnpike) and had them call the state police so I could get a ride to the hospital. Cop shows up, calls an ambulance.
So while we were waiting I asked him to help me look for my finger thinking they could sew it back on. Never did find it.

The doctor snipped the bone off and sewed it up.
Got another trooper to give me a ride back to the truck.
Drove to PA. while it was still numb but once it came to I had to stop.

I did, Glen.

The timing is way too soon for us, and that particular model is not as ideal for us as the one my wife and I identified. We actually looked over that model in detail this past Saturday.
