Just remember Rick, you can run to the end of your leash and bark and sniff but no touching! Those young-uns may call you gramps. It will be nice for you to work in a nice warm office.

Good Monday morning folks. I am real glad to be off of fish tank duty. I have no idea how much she spent on the new fish tank and all those fish, rocks and other stuff but I suspect it is less than my scissor lift and pit. She is calling it her retirement present to herself. She does not retire until June but that is close enough.

Just think how much cheaper a fish tank is than a beach or lake house!

Fer sure!

If Mrs. Carrera ever told me she wanted a beach or lake house I would suspect she had been switched with a body double or invasion of the body snatchers aliens got to her. That will happen right after she tells me she want to go Kayaking in Alaska.

My Mom's cousin had a house with goldfish ponds inside the house and 2 aquariums built into the walls. It is called the Bavinger House and quite famous to architects. Last I heard there was some major storm damage to the house and some debate as to whether to repair it or not. I think his son has been trying to get it declared some sort of landmark.

Did you ever make it over to Action Andy's parents house? They live in the gated community just 1/2 mile south of my house. It had the 5,000 sq foot covered pool and pack porch with the waterfall. They had a steam that ran through parts of the house and even out onto the front porch (under glass) and the stream in the house had a glass top so you could walk over it. It has gold fish and Koi swimming around it it.

The house was bigger than the back pouch. I thought it was strange that the back porch covered area had an additional back porch deck that wrapped around the entire thing.

It was really amazing to see a fish swim through part of the floor in the living room on the way to the kitchen.

Never seen it.

Bavinger house indoor pond kinda meandered. It was open and you had to use stepping stones to cross it to get from the living area to the dining area. Have a picture somewhere of me and cousins my age playing in the indoor pond with toy boats.

The house is not in any way wheelchair accessible. Don't think it could ever be kid proofed, however my 2nd cousins grew up in the house without hurting themselves permanently.

morning all,

well after another aborted start to the day, the schools have decided to start at 10.

Why can't they make a decision at night to do that, why do they have to ring me at 5am to tell me I can sleep in for another two hours because school start has been delayed for two hours because of freezing rain (which I might add didn't eventuate). grrrr

You could wear a slicker. Didn't want to call it a raincoat.

Wait, if she wore a slicker and she is living in the city that would make her a city-slicker!

I think that's when you show up outside the city wearing the slicker you usually wear when in the city. I don't know...the only rain protection I have is a gore-tex coat that is more of a snow jacket than a rain slicker.

Or some of them wader overalls like on them crab fishin shows.

Haven't had a rain slicker and rubber boots since grade school.
Used to always get in trouble for wading in puddles deeper than my boots and getting to school with my boots full of water.

We actually had a pleasant day as far as winter weather. Found out our 5 year old is a natural on a snowboard.

We have heat int he truck again. Don't know about the rear end yet. It was a little low on oil but after having it up I am not sure if it is the diff or wheel bearing.

Joe, this is what we had back in the day. They are adjustable for slip. You can have it nearly locked or pretty loose. You can also set it up to let the clutches slip if you are on a slick track. Not that you need that feature on a rock crawler. Welcome to the world of RC land vehicles.

Rick, happy birthday (late) and that looks like a good set of optics.

Sid, I have a question for you about early model 911s.

Richard, watched a movie last weekend of those Crabbing old guys, it was a horror movie, those old seafaring crabbing watermen were kidnapping youngsters to feed to the crabs, they were wearing those overall thingies, aaaaahhhh!!!

Had a dream (aka nightmare) last night, my house fell down in Oz, collapsed for no reason, and my house insurance had run out, wow what a horrible thought that was, couldn't get back to sleep as I couldn't remember paying my insurance or whether that was the responsibility of the Realtor who is looking after the property. Had to get up this morning and check my bank account to see if I had paid it, yep, back in Novmember, phew. Hopefullly tonight I can sleep!

It is still pretty morning here. So, is there going to be a weather/culture shock when you get back home? Being on here probably is about as culturally diverse as one can image, but still.

Funny the things we dream about.

I think the cultural shock is more about being in southern Maryland than anything else, pretty "unusual" people down this neck of the woods. Weather is not that much different really, although the humidity of the summer here is very hard to get used to, the winters are about the same, although where I live in Canberra it doesn't know all that often, but as it is only about 30 klms from the Australian Great Dividing Range which gets plenty of snow during the Winter, Canberra gets the bloody freezing winds and very cold weather.

The biggest thing for my wife when we moved from CA to here is the fences. Where she grew up in CA everyone had fences and when she visited the first time she asked why no one had fences (not privacy, just chain link) and I asked why do we need them. She also found it strange that dad would leave his van running with the A/C on while we all went in the convenience store. Of course, she grew up 20 miles from a third world country.

You haven't heard anyone playing "Dueling Banjos", right?
