Yeah, mechanic friend said remembered me telling him to stop by and visit with me when he first started. He was traveling between Wichita KS, and Dallas. Says he sure wishes he had.

Ditto on the respect for Richard working two full time jobs for his mom.

I hear stories like that and others and I really appreciate how great my parents were. They were really really stupid for a lot of my teenager years and awful mean because they would not buy me a car or other cool things. I am just tankful I figured out how great they really were and I was able to thank them before they died.

SILs say Mom coming and helping with the first kid was a god send and changed their relationship for the better. But, everyone Loved my Mom. She was the kind of person that would drop everything to happily help someone else.

As a parent, continuing to experience the flaws of my parents, this is my aim.

Basements are unusual but not unknown. My grandparents on both sides had basements on their houses and they lived much closer to the center of the city than Richard or I do, The soil at my house is pure clay. I could sell the dirt to any brick company and they could make bricks. When they dug the pit for our scaredy hole in the garage the soil was very wet below a few feet. A basement would be a challenge to keep dry.

I live in a slab home. Yeah, that's the ticket, a slab home. uh huh.

Acme brick where they use the clay and make bricks is just 3 miles from my house.

The basement at my grandmothers house has a sump in the corner and the pump runs almost constantly. It's doable, but you wouldn't want a living space down there.

I have only been to a couple places in OK but the people I visited said most had none.

Richard, no use backtracking now.

I talked to one builder. His biggest reason for not building houses with basements was it is way cheaper to build one level of house and just use more land. The area of the city was nothing but prairie before April 22, 1889. The metro area is over 1,000 square miles now. It is easy to just go sideways and not down.

Entire 160 acre sites just get developed into a new neighborhood.

Well...... By 'peace and love' I may mean a mixture of tungsten, lead and copper......and 'throughout the world' might mean a very specific region.

Have you seen that movie "Pawn Shop Chronicles"?

Very Pulp Fiction like

Guy in it keeps dirty necked womens in cages in grain silos.
And no, I don't have access to any grian silos.
