Good Morning...
Alright!!! My brother, Bob, is allergic to dog, dust, smoking, or something else at my house. At least that is what he is telling my brother, Tom that lives on the street behind me. He hasn't called and talked to me at all. He also wants gas money to come visit you. Says he only as $13 dollars to last him until he gets his SS in Jan. Think truth is he doesn't like staying with me because I do not cater to his every need. Just point him at the guest room and guest bathroom and tell him to get whatever he wants from the kitchen. When he was here over Thanksgiving he said he wanted some of the left over turkey...told him "It's in the fridge." He got mad at me because I wouldn't go get it from the fridge and fix it for him. My SIL does not like him staying with them for the same reason. He puts on this dumb act saying he can't find anything. Aren't Holidays fun!

My brother and his family live 900 miles away. I would like to spend more time together but it is not easy or practical. Chatting on the phone is about all we do.

Friend of mine got really into skype since it was first out so he could chat with his far away family and see them too. In the early days there was a LOT of guys just sitting around with their junk hanging out. You had to be careful what reflector channel you got on before you let any of the kids get involved in the chat or they would see more than they needed. Think it is much better nowadays, more like a video phone.
Bob only has a cell phone and it costs him too much to talk on the phone very long, with whatever sprint plan he has that is too expensive and doesn't include a smart phone, but somehow has a data plan for his computer to access thru it?

Mornin' all.
Sometimes when I read the thread here it makes me appreciate my family. Mom and I get into it a bit but she is Serbian and Scottish. I have a half day tomorrow. Jacob thinks it is unfair I have to work when he has school off. More rain here. I don't mind but it is making it difficult for the farmers to feed their livestock with the fields so muddy. If the pastures were growing it wouldn't be bad but this time of year frozen ground would be much better for them. You know its bad when farmers are talking about chains on the implement tires. The only race issues I had growing up were some hunters in the neighboring land where we hunt but I think that is more that they were from Chicago than the color of their skin. Saw Star Wars last night. As a star wars movie it sucked. As JJ Abrams movie it was good. As a Sci Fi movie it was OK. I mentioned in the Star Wars thread it was like the Star Trek reboot with Star Wars characters.

WOW! I loved the movie and thought it was making a great transition from old to new. I hope that the next 3-4 movies help build the story line.

The story was there. I guess I saw the potential for much better. Keep in mind I am not a big fan of the movies JJ Abrams has been involved in but I am a big fan of Person of Interest.
I think his movies are a little ADHD for my taste. I thought as a generic sci-fi it was a decent movie. It just wasn't Star Wars. None of the prequels were either. This is better than those. But that is like saying the CD smells much better than what the dog just dumped in the lawn. I might be overly critical of movies.

no everyone is entitled to like or dislike the movie. I felt it was much better than the prequels by a long shot. I was disappointed on one plot line but I will not discuss it here so as not to ruin it for others.

It was good for a Star Wars movie. Was trying too hard to tie too many stories in. Covered what shoulda been 1 or 2 other movies with stories of what happened. It should have been Star Wars VIII instead of VII. Guess that's what happens when you let some of your lead characters get too old.

I think they had to do the opposite of the books written for that time frame.
Disappointing but not surprising.

very true. I think the books from that time frame are very good. I think your are right they departed from that time line probably to avoid even more backlash.

They should have adopted Timothy Zahn books and been done with it.
Richard may have it, they were trying too hard. Should have had Joss do it.

You can have mine I didn't get yesterday.
I don't normally have a drink but yesterday we had one person that was, well, difficult to deal with. I asked what the % limit was and my boss said 0% but dealing with her I could head home and get a drink. I don't think Joe and Rick together could knock sense into the person I was trying to help.

Good Idea. I'm making a coffee with a shot of sambucca. Came home early for some homemade gnocchi. Youngest son home from college, and my daughter gets home tonight. Let the Holiday begin!

Get off my lawn!

Many years ago, like in the late 1970s we had a big Christmas party at work. Back in the good ol days when companies were not sued because someone drank too much. The party was wild, and I was a young-un.
The next business day after the party we still had booze bottles in the "kitchen" area next to the coffee pot. One of the customers that was an old timer came in just as we opening for the day. He worked with Wiley Post as part of his line crew. He saw the Bourbon bottle next to the coffee and said he would just warm up the coffee a little and made a 25% Bourbon - coffee drink. He was likely late 80s at the time.

Now I am running between the computer running th scanner, the computer making Mr. Sid files, and my workstation working on the obliques jobs, chips and salsa and I was FORCED to pop a beer. Burp. Dang yer hide.
