R.I.P, Retire in Peace!

When my oldest bro retired he setup camp and lived in a tent in rural OK for 2 years. Personally think he was trying to get abducted by aliens...opps, extraterrestrials.

When my Mom was very young, pre dust bowl they lived in a shack actually on a well site.
Mom graduated in 1936, by then they lived on a farm just outside of Pryor Oklahoma and Granddad had a Barber Shop was the town Barber and owned and ran the local Sale Barn (Auction). When in HS my Mom did all the paperwork for the Sale Barn. She was also the homecoming queen.

My Dad swept up at the barber shop and hung around doing jobs for Granddad because he liked my Mom. He didn't marry her until after her first husband passed and his first wife passed.

Also understand Granddad played poker every Saturday night, and gave the winnings to Grandma the next morning to put in the Church offering plate. I learned to count playing dominos with Granddad and kept score on a cribbage board. He always seemed to know what I had without seeing my dominos. Remember we used to all have to get together and watch the Lawrence Welk show with him.

The check engine light on the Cayenne is a vacuum leak. The intake gasket, that ain't gonna be a cheap fix.

Well, it is better than a head gasket.

If you have more than one ice cream shake at a time, you are doing it wrong! One will melt.

I've been working for the company I work for since I was 13 years old, that's 43 years now. In that time I've seen a lot of people retire. 90% of those people died within a couple years of retiring. Don't do that!!

Yesterday we had coffee & pastries early and pizza for lunch. No cake or watch, but I did get a hikers GPS. We'll get some good use out of that!

Guess today they give stuff the retiree might actually use instead of an actual gold watch.

We usually have a retirement "party" spanning the afternoon break times to insure every department can attend. The CEO gives a going away speech during each break and have the family of the employee present. There is a reception line and picture posing. The last retirement they also had a luncheon at a local restaurant, expensive. Don't think that was very bright when laying off people.

It wasn't pre-programmed for a pier, correct?

BIL made it through the surgery and will be in ICU for a few days. The doc was really nice and explained what he did in layman's terms.

My BIL is a big guy so they couldn't close him up with normal wiring. They used a plate and screws!

He still has AFIB but at the veins used were in good shape. Weird stuff when you stop and think about what they do in there. They didn't bypass his heart as the doc didn't think is was strong enough to pump blood to his brain and didn't want to increase the chance of neurological damage.
