Are you sure about that? Maybe they had an incident and didn't tell you!

The lady that spent the night with me that night mentioned that her former boyfriend sometimes stalked her.

We quit dating shortly after that.

I can see that being a good thing.

Aussies are a different breed. He is racing and giving commentary at the same time.

oh boy that was fun. its just not my day. They are paving the street corner in front of my office so there is only one exit out of the parking lot. As I roll up to turn left a cop blocks the exit (illegal) so I park on his door. He hops out of his car and asks me what I'm doing. I calmly told him I was attempting to turn left but that there was an illegal car stopped in front of me. He said I could go out the other side. I asked him to get on his radio and ask the guy directing traffic at the corner if that was possible........he got back in his car all grumpy and just sat there. The guy behind him let me out when he finally got to move.

Funniest thing. Had my first golden, Penny with when I went to the corner convenience store and was parked right out front. Went in a grabbed a coke. When I got to the register I heard Penny bark and looked just in time to see someone by the closed passenger side window of my Jeep Cherokee jumping out of their skin, but no dog. The person looked all around, didn't see anything, then came on into the store. Stayed chatting with the owner/clerk. We both watch them leave and sure enough, Penny jumped up from the foot well and barked then dived back down. The person jumped out of their skin again, looked all around not seeing anything, and walked off. What was really funny, after the person left Penny peaked up over the dash at us in the store with a big grin then drop back down to the foot well. She knew exactly what she was doing. Waited around and she did the same thing to 5 other people walking by the car. Me and the store owner where crying from laughing so hard.

Here is my rant of the day.

Them: My email was rejected, can you fix it?

Me: It says the recipient firewall rejected it because it has a zip attached. Send the photos without zipping them.

Them: We zipped them into 6 smaller files and they were rejected.

Me: They were rejected bcause it has a zip file attached. I highlighted and bolded the rejection notice for you.

Them: We need to look at how many emails are not being delivered due to this set up.

Me: All the emails you send to them with a zip attachment will be rejected. Just send the jpeg file they are already compressed.

Them: When will this be fixed.

I tried to call but they aren't answering my calls. They did email my boss so we could discuss the solution and I told my boss they were rejected on the recipient's firewall/spam filter because of the zip attachment and she laughed and said OK and that was the end of the discussion.

My job would be awesome if I didn't have to deal with people.

so the "them" wants you to fix the other persons email system to accept zip files? Priceless. Tell the "them" you have to much invested in the current company to quit and move to a new place and that they should just load the zip file onto a jump drive and snail mail it.

We tried to work with a company with a new IT department. They hired Mordoc, the denier of information to run the department. I tried to send a simple jpeg file and it was blocked because of the attachment. I tried a PDF file, same thing. I tried to send a link to a ftp site and that was blocked.

Finally our client (an attorney) grabbed her laptop and drove down the block to McDonald's and got the files with the free wi-fi. She drove back to the office and all was fine.

I told the them to just not zip the photos and it would be fine and that we aren't allowed to work on other companies equipment.

Boss says I need to be more tactful. Funny thing is, she said it with a laugh.

It's not what you say, or how you say it...

If they try to send more than one file at a time, some email clients automatically zip them.

If they had their way we should be able to send a Blu-ray attachment and not have any rules on types of attachments.

Our old marketing guy wanted to send a large file and I told him that most places have a limit on the size of the email but since I was such a nice guy I would open his account to send it but her would have to clean out his mailbox since it only has a 2GB limit. He sent it and it was returned because the email was over the recipient' limit. I told him told you so. I looked, it was just over 1GB. Some days people think it is always on our end but if they would read the rejection notice it tells them exactly why it came back.

We use Outlook 2013 and it will send the photos as is.

I was thinking of you when she stopped in and closed the door to tell me to use more tact.

By the way, this them was a different them than my other rant. Must be the air in that office space.

We were working with another company that was in a hurry for a file. I could not send him a zip file but I tried a RAR file and he got that with no problem He had to take the rar file home on the thumb-drive and uncompress it there. Fortunately he was tech savvy enough to know how to download and install the rar utility. We have a couple of clients that are large corporations that as engineering companies have divisions overseas. For whatever reason they actually prefer rar files. We are happy to do whatever it takes to make the client happy.

We use 7z most of the time here. I get asked now and then to buy WinZip so they can zip files and I tell them no. Why buy it when Windows does it natively and if you want better compression there are better tools out there.

I can see the preference for rar files.

We have an ftp server set up so people can upload files over 10mb then it sends an email with an http link to download the file to whatever recipient. People are using drop box instead even though the've been told not to for security reasons.

Apple's stupid mail.app automatically ftps attachements over 10mb to iCloud and replaces the attachment with a http link.

Have the same ftp software, Rumpus on Zipbang.com, Glen and the company he works for use it all the time. There is even a desktop app that handles and track drop shipped files. For years Rumpus FTP server was a Mac app, they now have a PC version also.

Does all kinds of neat stuff besides just ftp and the drop ship thing. You can send file requests and it will keep track of it and notify you when they have uploaded the file. Very customizable with forms and notifications. Even integrates with Active Directory, LDAP, or Open Directory.

Been using it for drop shipping files LONG before anything like drop box was around, 1991.

We just hosted our niece and her family this afternoon/evening. Two boys, one three years old and the other is one and a half. What a handful! And making loud noises is very thrilling for them. My ears are still ringing. I guess this is (future) grandparent training. I think we might need to travel more!!!

One of my married friends has three adult children that are all starting to pop out grandkids. After the thrill of the first grandkid they realized all the kids figured gramps and granny would be great built in cheap child care. They do that some, but they truly started to travel the world more just to enjoy their retirement and let the kids know they need their own child care services.

I have no doubt they would do anything at all for the kids and grandkids, except become full time child care providers. BTDT, they have the t-shirts and family photos to prove it.

Good Thursday morning folks. I noticed a marked reduction in traffic today. I bet tomorrow the roads will be almost empty. Lots of folks leaving early for Memorial day.
