Paid Holiday is for those people that are paid to work.

It's gonna be cold tomorrow, I would suggest staying in the car for the entirety of the airport run including pickup and drop off. Does the Macan have heated seats?

Noticed when I made my grocery run yesterday the heated seats in the Cayenne were warm within 1 mile and the heater was blowing warm within 2 miles. Don't understand the heater part because the dash gauge hadn't even registered a water temp yet. Is not so bad getting out in the cold with my garage at 68°F in this cold weather. That walk in and out of the grocery store can get a bit nipply though.

Started snowing here last night through mid morning today. Light fluffy snow but the wind is now up to 20mph. It did warm up to 14* though and should be close to 40* by the weekend.

My mother in law and her husband arrived at their new house here in the upper midwest Saturday. They just moved from the low desert and knew it would be cold but were still surprised.

Yea, the Macan has heated and air conditioned seats. The heater in that thing is amazing. We just went up to the corner gas station to fill it up with gas. It was blowing warm air by the time we got to the gas station and it is just 4 blocks away. She turned off the engine while I filled it up. Mrs. Carrera wanted a salad at McDonalds so we made the long slog clear across the street and it was blowing hot air by the time we pulled into the drive through.

My 911 has great heat if the weather is dry. In super cold temps it has warm air in 1/2 a mile and hot air in two miles and I have to turn down the heat. It it is raining no so much. The water cools off the heat exchangers and they are just OK heaters then. The Elky takes a couple of miles to get warm but it is a typical water cooled car and has a decent heater. When I drove the 911 a few years ago it was zero degrees F and it is the only time I have ever had the heater on high for more than a few minutes. Now with summer performance tire I will not be driving it in stupid cold temps.

The An-225 is the largest built but they only built a few.

AN-225 Mriya

We got to tour the An-124 at Oshkosh way back in the 80s. They also had a Blackbird and an F-117 with guys that had no sense of humor. Someone tried to cut across the yellow tape surrounding the F-117 and the guards were having none of it and gave the impression that they person would not survive had they tried to continue their shortcut. We had a long discussion with the E3 Sentry guys. They were joking that the could sterilize everyone at the airshow if they turned the radar on. We also talked with the Blackbird crew. They let slip some stuff they weren't supposed to. I imagine it is hard to keep track of everything that is still classified and what has been released.

Yea, your IT director is a lot like my boss at times. When I have to get up early for a airport run I get to have a nap on company time and the boss buys my lunch! It sucks when the boss make some bonehead mistake and blames me for it.

I "get" to get up early tomorrow to attend the GDDC Broadband Breakfast. We have a breakfast buffet from 7:30 to 7:45 then a couple hours of learning all about the initiative. My question is should I get a large coffee and forgo using the restroom beforehand so the squirming will keep me awake?

At least I don't have to get up as early as Glen. Should have sent the PFY in my place.

Why does Broadband need 2 hours? Are they going to talk at dialup speeds?

I have no clue but I guess we have to have a presence since we are one of the first fiber customers for one of the broadband providers. There are maybe 3 providers in town. 8:30 is networking with people. I hate that.

Hah Glen, I got chips with mine and a blood orange for dessert!

Bro with MS called and took me to Chili's fo lunch.

Then went to Porsche shop, got a new gas door switch on the Cayenne. Glad the switch gave me a warning taking several attempts to open and didn't just quit leaving me unable to gas er up.

The AT&T installers claimed my neighborhood would get GB within the next 2 years. Believe it when I see it.

Good Tuesday morning. Just a balmy 6 degrees here. I guess I will not wear shorts today.

Windows 10 loves updates, and changing settings that I spent time to set the way I need. Especially in the networking area. One of the updates of either Office or Windows changed one setting that is kinda cool I think. I use Outlook for my email client and I usually open it right after Pandora. First music, then the email. I minimize Outlook, deal with any overnight email and get on to working. At the end of the day most times I just put the computer to sleep and I can wake it up in seconds. If I shut it down it only takes 60 to 80 seconds to boot if there were no further updates. The boot drive is a SSD so I can't make it boot faster.
Anyway the change is that in the past if I left Outlook open and shut down the computer the next boot Outlook was not loaded. I had to click on the icon. Now if Outlook was left open it will automatically be loaded. If it was closed before shutdown it does not load. It saves me one whole mouse click. With all the time I saved I moving the mouse and clicking I have more time to post on Pelican!

Well the breakfast was decent and I didn't fall asleep. They were smart and had you sit down with your food while they talked. It actually had some interesting information about how they get the fiber and everything laid out and the partnerships. Sounds like the city owns the conduits so everyone can use them. They started the initiative way back in 1995.
