Same here -- thanks creaturecat!
Query: is the episode which airs on Jan 22 the same as what's on the DVD which was released lsat summer? Edit - per the scify website - it is the pilot episode which will air this Friday. -Z

Great start to the new show, IMHO. Some of the concepts are a stretch, IMHO, but after all, it is scifi.
Loved the "By your command" comment from the first cylon. Nice homage to the original BSG. Could have used less of the V-club stuff - don't need to see all that crap to get the point. Liked the paper being a computer interface. Slick thinking there. Anyone know if Ron D. Moore will be doing podcasts for Caprica like he did for BSG? -Z-man.

SPOILERS!!!!!!
I think it's funny that the rebels are monotheistic in a polytheistic society. Kind of has echoes of early Christianity, except that the monotheists are acting like Islamic terrorists. Remember the seen in BSG where Baltar asks the centurion if he (or maybe she, based on what we now know) knows of the Cylon God? Presumably that Cylon has Zoe's conciosness. The irony!

I just finished watching the first episode. I found it to be kind of slow but I think I'll stick with it for a few more weeks to see where it goes. Give it a shot. You can catch the show on Hulu (where I'm watching it) so it can be viewed on your schedule which is nice.

I think so.
It does have the same flavor as Galactica - which is a given since the producers and directors are the same. If you are expecting a scifi show that's flying around in space all the time, then you will be disappointed. For me -- scifi is more than just spaceships and photon torpedos... -Z-man.

Considering how badly NBSG ended, i really don't think i'm going to waste my time with this one.
In honesty, they should have just made another season of NBSG so the ending wasn't so damn bad. |

From what I gather, originally Starbuck was supposed to have really died in the crash, and her ship's beacon was supposed to lead the Galactica to the first Earth. I think it would have made WAY more sense if they did the ending that way. The whole subplot with her coming back and searching for Earth didn't make any sense.

RE: NBSG ending -- it wasn't the ending I was expecting, but it was an appropriate ending for the series. Left you with an uncomfortable feeling, which is pretty much what the whole show did.
I think Ron D. Moore felt it would be better NOT to stretch the series out longer -- there was an ending in sight - they find earth. You can't keep searching -- the universe is only so big.... (And the audience can loose interest if the same old thing is shown season after season...)My $0.42, -Z-man.

"There is good and there is evil in this world. There is a right, and there is a wrong. Only through the One True God can we know the difference, and Zoe knew, because Zoe knew God. And God touched her heart and gave her the ability to create...life itself."
Seems like a pretty interesting premise to me. Too much plot, not enough shoot-em-up, for the average listener? Maybe. BSG fans not watching, because the the ending of BSG was not what they "wanted"? A bit ridiculous, really. |

I'm sorry bro, but NBSG jumped the shark so bad in that last season that i just cannot see myself getting involved with the same writers and universe again. What's more, the plot vehicle itself is to me, "lawyers in space."
Blech. |
