I think people get so bent out of shape because people who support this level of thuggery are in fact enablers of it.

People who have suffered these sorts of abuses first hand find it EXTREMELY frustrating that anyone can defend this sort of thing.

Hence, they take it personal and get bent out of shape. It is perfectly understandable.

[QUOTE=stomachmonkey;5306763]Wrong, not run the cop over, run over the unkown individual that just came at him with a gun in his hand.

You're right I should have stated "the unknown individual."

I was just pointing out that the potential existed.

As I said before, he should have done a much better job presenting his id. I have no argument with that.

A CCW permit holder could use the same judgement, but it would not fly. A well trained officer with a level head would not have done what that OD LEO did.

I remember that story about Omar Edwards. Sad.

If Youtube off duty cop had been shot by an off duty cop riding his bike, it would have another sad story and no charges filed, but the story would be told in training about how not to pull you gun.

This is where I believe the laws between civilians and sworn officers differ.

I think if the officer can articulate that he felt there was an imminent danger then he is allowed to pull it out.

Who can really say for 100% certainty that imminent danger did not exist in that officers mind.

That's the gray area so to speak.

OK, NOW I understand...The dip **** LEO thought the bike was out a control and was just going to shoot it dead............what a dumb **** !!!
So ..some of you think that because some one is doing road tricks , that's enough reason to pull out the revolver and end his life ?? KILL someone ?? IF one more thing had gone wrong there, a cop could have been dead, or the The rider....
Just would depend on who the rider is when someone whips out a gun...
What that was , was a show of NOT being in control of the situation.......NO FKN idea or clue !!

There are a lot of cops who strongly believe that motorcycles have no business on the road or a somehow like bicycles. I encountered one of these after have the great misfortune of crashing when a car in front of me breaked hard before I could fully react. The cop was reading me the riot act and I had not caused damage to anything but myself and my bike. The fact that it was difficult to move a bike with a badly bent fork was lost on him as he was too busy threatening to cite me.

My cop was just ignorant. The cop in this case needs to seriously be locked up and kept away from the public.
