While some might state that as a reason, I guess it has more to do with the Dutch being perceived as a great bunch of people (they introduced us to the "fan walk"), and they have really showed some heart in the cup so far!

I think the Netherlands win. As good as the Spanish team have been playing - they beat a German Team that didn't show up for the game. The German passes were off, their defense was lackluster - played like they had an enormous hangover.

Either way - it should be a good game.

Well, Spain won...or was it the other team lost.......

Was kind of a snorefest...lot's of fouls, ref shoulds tossed more than a few orange jerseys.

It wasn't a beautiful game, but it was a wonderful goal. Viva Espana!

Disagree on point #2. Many of Holland's fouls were non-contact dramatic arts by Spain. They (Spain) deserve an honorary award at next year's Oscars - especially that Spaniard who tripped over his own feet

Holland never mounted an offense and were intent on passing the ball the opposing team. Snoozer of a game.

Nah. It was a good game. Great defense for two very evenly matched teams. Low-scoring football brings on more tension, IMO, which makes things more fun.

I agree with David (JavaBrewer). The theatrical performance by Spain should be legendary. I'm not saying there weren't any fouls, but some were unjustified, IMO. I fell asleep on it, and I haven't done that during any of the WC matches. ARGH!

Cool

So..... this is just acting, right?

This guy should have been out of the game by the 10th minute.

Here is another angle.

Need a video?

Most of the rest of the fouls were "low intensity" but I think the referee let the oranges go a bit too far.

Anyway...

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!

That boot to the chest was definately not a case of flopping and should be a red card without hesitation.

Totally agree - should have been a red card, no doubt. I was just saying SOME were unjustified. I suppose it was a 'draw' as some yellows were uncalled for and some should have been reds. Touche'.

Spain certainly deserved to win the game. They played a much better game.

Was a card game, not a soccer game.

Pretty ugly game if you compare how Germany / Spain played a clean game few days earlier ...

Glad to see Spain win - it would have been a bad day for soccer if you make it to the title with fouling as a tactic - 7 yellows and 1 red ... that's a new record in a wc final.

George
