Any other parents have experience with these for a 2YO.

I like it much better than a tricycle.

* LIFETIME WARRANTY - The best warranty in the industry!
* Extremely lightweight and sturdy, 6160 Aluminum alloy frame
* Dual-plane (up-down/foward-back) adjustable handlebar on twin bearings for smooth pivot
* Linear-pull, rear V-brake! The best braking system for young riders.
* Aluminum rims, supported by 16 radially spaced spokes
* Ball bearing 12" wheels with grip-tread, tube replaceable tires
* Sleek, angle and height adjustable saddle with four point support; approximate seat range of 11"-15"
* Quick-adjust Allen collar, for easy adjustment of the saddle
* Three color choices: blue, red and green
* 95% assembled! Simply insert the handlebars and tighten.
* Low center of gravity for optimal control and maneuverability
* Paint certified to be significantly below the ASTM limits for heavy metal content, including lead.

That seat post hanging below the bike looks like its just waiting to dig into a kids ankle or foot. I would hope they had smoothed the edges or capped it in plastic. If not....well thats what duct tape is fer.

Ive seen kids on them (hauling arse, by the way) and they look like a really great way to learn balance on a bike. I'm thinking of getting one for my 4 y.o. this x-mas.

My daughter was very late when it came to losing her training wheels. After several failed attempts to get going on two wheels I finally took the pedals off of her bike and had her just push it around. It didn't take any time for her to get the feel of it and within a few hours I put the pedals back on and she was up and running.

I'm having a hard time imagining a 2 YO on one of these, but if I had to do over I never would have given my daughter a bike with training wheels.

It looks like a very bad idea. I see missing teeth, worn out shoes, skinned knees and elbows.

The seat is only 11" off the ground...I'm practicing for the convincing I am going to have to do on my bride.

He still has his practice teeth.

Shoes are a bit overrated.

My 3 year old has a Strider bike. Same basic bike, just w/o the hand brake. We got it for her when she was 2 and she loves it. I think we'll be moving up to a pedal bike soon and her little brother will get the Strider. She's actually been in several Cyclocross races (kids races) with her bike, she loves it so much. The Kinder bike looks good - stay away from the woodones, unless you never see rain.

I think before I worried about the bottom of the seat post, I would put a rear fender on the thing in case he slid off the back of the seat onto the tire at speed.

Or maybe the natural reaction would be to just stand up.

Your results may vary.

My 2 year old daughter is just now able to pedal her tricycle and steer. I can't picture her actually riding a real bike. Maybe at 3-4, but not at 2.

That's pretty cool. You make me reconsider, I might have to get the daughter one of those.

The biggest thing is to make crashes "fun" and not a big deal. If they're really hurt, obviously you attend to their needs. At this point Kiera has wiped out so many times, it hardly phases her. She usually bounces right back up laughing and asks if I saw her "cool wipeout."

We started with the traditional bike with training wheels and never could get my daughter to ride her bike without the training wheels. My Italian Mom mentioned that in Europe they start kids off with push bikes. So we made the switch and in no time my daughter had the whole balance thing dialed in and she was riding her regular bike sans training wheels. It worked for us.

Well, I don't know about the missing teeth, but the rest sounds like how it's supposed to work.

Little kids should wear shoes out and get skinned knees and elbows.

The day skinned elbows and knees cause limits to little kids, is the day the wussification of the US takes another big step forward.

you mean the jumps made out of plywood and cinder blocks on a 1" gravel driveway was a bad thing?

yes the run bikes are a good idea to get kids balance down before they get confused with pedaling action.

of course i was off my training wheels in days....mom was horrified to see me riding downhill on our street leading to said gravel driveway... when i slammed on the coaster brake and skidded to a stop in a cloud of dust and gravel and still upright. she calmed down. her first time without training wheels involved a hill and a rose bush. needless to say my childhood flashbacks had a better ending
