+4, 5 whatever on the Bosch. We got one when we moved into our new house 5 years ago(don't know the model). No problems whatsoever.
Yes, they are quiet. Ours does not have a light on the outside to warn it is on, and our son-in-law opened the dishwasher while it was running. It was so quiet he did not even know it was running while standing right next to it!

The salesman told my Wife that the Bosche is good unless you wash alot of Tupperware - something about the drying cycles. She was looking at a Maytag and a Kenmore. Not sure thats the best idea...

We actually wash Tupperware or tupperware-type containers all the time. Never had a problem. We even wash the newer Glad style containers that are a lot thinner plastic, no problems. I cringed when we first put it in there, but now we even put it on both the top and bottom racks. It does not seem to get too hot, because when we empty it, there is still water in the depressions and dips that collect water in upside down glasses or cups.

Check out the length of the cycle. Some new dishwashers take a crazy long time. Also find out if it needs a specific detergent or rinse aid.

Mike,
We purposely set out to buy a Bosch model because of the availability of the AquaStop feature (we have recently purchased another home in Huntsville, AL and the existing dishwasher leaked and damaged the hardwood in the kitchen - I wanted some security/insurance that this would not happen again). We paid right at $700 after taxes from Lowes. The model we selected was the SHE43F16UC - be aware that not all the Bosch units have the AquaStop feature. Interior is stainless and the unit, as many have already mentioned, is amazingly quite - these units are rather efficient too.

The sales person said not to prewash or rinse the dishes prior to placing into the dishwasher. The stainless is supposed to hold the heat thus facilitating drying of the dishes. Plastics (Tupperware and the like) do not dry well (per the salesperson) but come out super clean.

Products - Dishwashers - Dishwashers - Visible Controls - SHE43F16UC

I have the same one as fireant911 has, I believe. I have to listen to tell its running. In the center there is an inverted cup thing that is a filter that you should clean out once a year, pops right off.

when it come to dishwasher, an old technology, I thought it should be between $50 to $300 bucks max. Seeing these crazy prices you guys post, I almost fall off my chair.

I got a bosch. Yes, its quiet. The lower basket or rack is really cheap. Not what you would expect from bosch. The lower rack is borderline crap.

I have the Bosch
It is very quiet
It takes a long time
I have had some issues, not cleaning very well, cloudy glasses.
We changed detergent and started running the hot water in the sink so the dishwasher gets full of hot water, this seems to help.

I always have cheap dishwashers. They all work okay these days and hold up a few years. However, like mentioned above, food grinders are mandatory, unless you have help pre-cleaning the dishes.

I installed a Bosch SHE55M16UC/Black front last week. Great Indoors (Sears) had a 30% off sale =$665 + tax.

J.D. Power rated Bosch second after Kenmore Elite
J.D.Power and Associates - Press Release

I wanted a dishwasher that could wash fine china and crystal in addition to a stainless interior for quiet operation.

Main concern with new appliances is the electronic control panel failure after warranty expires.

John

Great picture!!!^^

-1 for the stainless Bosch. I really, really, don't like mine. Seems like I have to fill it up with JetDry rinsing agent every other time I use it. And, unless I soak and hand wash the utensils before I put them in the unit they will NOT be clean when they come out. Maybe it wasn't installed right, or I just got a bad one. I'm the only person I know that doesn't like the Bosch. It is pretty quiet, tho.

But shes pissed at me for getting the Maytag because she says "now when something goes wrong with the Maytag I'll never hear the end of it!"

To wit I responded "You wanted the Maytag for specific reasons - if those reasons are sound, then nothing should go wrong with it right? Besides, if I got the Bosch and it sucked your telling me you wouldn't give me a hard time? Either way Its a no-win for both of us. The Maytag will be fine - I have nothing against it heck it even has a better look to it than the Bosch, the racks are better (you know how I love a good rack!) - {BTW - she didn't find that funny}, and it will most likely dry better as well. It won;t be as quite but thats not a major concern for us anyway is it? So all-in-all the Maytag is fine. Now if you wanted a GE that would be a different story!"

She considered that a lecture and didn't appreciated being talked to like that. I told her I get paid good cash to talk like that. Those 'lectures' put her in a nice home, complete freedom, plenty of trips back to her home town when ever she wants, hired hands to help her out and an $80k pool/patio in the back yard.

I don't think I'm gonna be getting any action for awhile...

I got a Bosch stainless interior for $125 from Craigslist. Someone did a reno and wanted a different color.

Pretty quiet, dishes are clean, price was right.

The only feature it's missing is delayed start.
