I have a knife very much like this one that has cut many, many lemons and limes (hundreds) when I was a bartender. It's done a lot more too, but I don't carry it any more. I've moved to something smaller and lighter these days. https://i0.wp.com/cuttingedge.com/wp...50%2C500&ssl=1 |
I just received this from Kickstarter

^^^ are the blades proprietary for that or will they hold x-acto blades?
|
They're not Xacto blade, they are scalpel blades.....

I have a couple of scalpel knifes.
Stupid sharp. Can't really do anything with them. What do you do with this one? |

I like being able to swap out a variety of blades |
for awhile. (maybe still) hunters were using scalpel blades to process game.
I had a friend that had one. he would change blades regularly. I asked him, "how where are you going to put the dull one?" I think he had every intention to bury in the field, but he didnt since he knew I was now watching. haha..the blades snapped easily. |

My "settled on" hunting knife, bought in mid 70's or so, the Shrade "Uncle Henry Golden Spike". Not sure of the steel, but guessing by the patina it developed, some kind of carbon steel. Sure did hold an edge well. On one long ago successful hunting trip with my buddy & his brothers, it field dressed 3 deer without a need to be resharpened. Think I paid around 30 1970's dollars for it. Still have it.

I’m hunting tomorrow. Turkey.
I’m taking “faithful”. My bestest, inexpensivest, knife. Profoundly good. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1743186040.jpg |
^^^ Personally, I'd use a gun, but I guess the knife will work if you can sneak up on them.

My son is the knife guy and have some excellent examples because of that.
The three I keep at my home office are two from my MIL's second husband, a wonderful man, a I*XL Wostenholm and his very old Leatherman. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1743188708.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1743188708.jpg The cheap Swiss I was given by the Norwegians after we shot the first operational Penguin missiles in 1990 off of Puerto Rico. Four shots, four hits on the ship target. I am in the left seat. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1743188842.jpg They make me smile. |
Sorry to say I am letting this one go:

Picked up this 70s scuba diver knife at the flea market yesterday. Channeling my inner Mike Nelson ....

^Have a similar one, sold by US Diver. I always rinsed the salt water off my gear...no rust on mine.

I'm in a group on FB for mostly old hand tools, but some other stuff sneaks in sometimes. These two are currently for sale and are really cool. The guy selling did the engraving.
