First off, no Indian tailor, local or otherwise is going to make a suit that is anywhere close to a Saville Row version for $250. There is a reason why the tailors in Saville Row do such a good job, and your local guy aint gonna have it.

My heartburn with your friend is that he professes to be a professional aviator yet every time we turn around he is doing something silly like this.

"Two alike" you say? Well I am a former pilot examiner and check airman, and the person that junior pilots had to do a flight check with before they got to be a Captain or fly in the left seat. Should your friend attempt to do this with me as the examiner and he started acting wacko like he does on a regular basis on this forum, he would be lucky if he was not grounded and asked to do a full battery of testing to make sure that he really should be in a cockpit in the first place.

No need for me to ask your friend out as I like puzzy and he evidently has come out as batting for his own side. I could care less about this but when I see someone who flies for a living acting like this it makes a lot of us wonder how safe they are in the cockpit flying over YOUR house.

I was a jeweler for awhile (got out about 8 years ago) and at that point even the best replicas were easy to detect by feel alone.
If a jeweler didn't identify your replica as a fake it was probably their policy.
It was our policy not to identify replicas or even paste in settings because there seemed to be no upside unless the customer was asking for an opinion.
If they knew it was fake, telling them accomplished nothing and if they thought it was real you run the risk at the least of creating tension and at the worst, being accused of switching the item.
All service items were identified during the work order process but telling a customer that their "baby was ugly" just wasn't our deal.

Actually I have a friend who is rather well to do and has a few very nice suits. All tailor made and a couple of them were a tad over US$5000. Well on a business trip to Turkey he had a local street vendor make him a suit that cost him US$300. It took four days to make and is made by the one guy. It is an excellent suit. He has had it for about three years now and it's still going strong.

Or get a suit made in Hong Kong,, Nathan Rd. used to do overnight suits... cheap and impeccable quality.

Not sure about now, but when I was stopping in HK frequently, Nathan Rd beat Seville Row hands down

I suspect you know your scheize. This thing is really good, and it weighs about a pound. It has the identical sweep second hand, and the script on the face is perfectly the same, and they got the band correct too. I was told the only way you can tell is to take it into a dark room- the tabs for the hours glow green.

I purposely don't wear it much because these cheap watches show scratches on the band and body quickly. That's the other way you can tell-

What are you comparing it too?

You need to borrow a real Rolex like your replica and compare them side by side.
You may be surprised how different they really are.

One thing I know to be true... The people who are impressed by the jewelry you wear don't matter anyway.

I wear mine because it's important to me in a very personal way. It has nothing to do with what other people think.

Let me explain... I went through horrid divorce about 8 years ago and I ended up almost broke... Eventually the kids came back to me.
But the extra money my ex got because the kids were with her didn't. All of that had been squandered by my ex on a 4x4 and two guitars for her BF...
That and some stupid business decisions. The result.... It took her 9 months to burn all she had. (the story gets really long and boring from here)

OK so.... The kids come home. I'm struggling financially and I needed a goal I could believe in to get myself motivated.
So I tell myself as soon as my finances are in order I would buy myself a Rolex Sub Mariner. Had to be cash only. Not on credit or loan etc. I had to do it properly.
That was almost 6 years ago.

Late last year I was ready to walk into the shop and order a new one but as it turned out I found a mint one in a Pawn shop at half the price. (pic posted on page one)

As you could imagine that watch means a lot to me for a whole bunch of reasons.
