Why not keep it outside? My cat is an outside cat - only comes inside when it is real ugly out. He gets minimal care - good feed and minimum vet care like deworming and shots. They have street smarts and usually survive traffic and predators just fine. It beats not adopting it. This also would help with your monster indoor cats.

G

PS: My cat was feral and survivd several moves, even cross country just fine. Going on 13+ years and the LA foothill coyotes haven't caught him either.

My dad would love that cat... When I was younger my folks had a Siamese mix indoors that lived to be 18. She was several years old when I came along and never liked me much. Then we had a black ferral cat that lived outside. She was TOUGH, would go after any kritter but the jackrabbits, She lived to be like 16. We haven't gotten another cat since then. Its just the two mutts now....

Had the same thing happen two years ago. Some jerk abandoned a cat in our area and she jumped the fence into my back yard. Saw her around for a few days then did the stupid thing of feeding her.

Took six months before I could even touch her, so feel that the had been out on her own for a long time. She is an adult cat but no idea how old.

Finally she started warming up to us and here is the result:

Think I am stuck with her now...

Your cats will likely accept a kitten easily.

Just had a third do the same to us here-now have 3 in the house and one in the ban (he prefers it there-but is friendly as hell).

My recent feral rescue is adapting fine so far but they are work. The last one I took in looks exactly like that black one and is a great cat that my ex girlfriend now has.

I think that one looks small enough to be taken in. A BSC ex of mine had a cat that was feral, but it was a lot bigger than that one when she got it. She might as well have had a possum or raccoon as a pet; it was about that friendly. When people would come over it would try and bite them, and nobody could touch the stupid cat or really do anything with it aside from throw stuff and watch the thing go chase after it. Not even the ex.

Ugh, I found two kittens while moving brush around on Halloween. One is named Pumpkin and the other Gourdy. Almost lost pumpkin to raccoon yesterday, wife now wants to keep both. Have two dogs in the house already, and momma feral cat is semi-friendly lives outside here, and you can pet but not pick up.

How old is that one? 6 or so months? Looks like it will be a monster.

Congratulations on being adopted!

Beautiful cat - I bet she gives you years of smiles and love. Get her checked out at the vet and introduce her slowly to the new environment to avoid rocking your current cats' world too much.

Cats are role models. Seriously. They're great.

Emily is a great cat. Loves people. Teases the German Shepherd fearlessly.
Good luck with your new friend, Trek. Looks like a sweet kitten.

We LOVE the new floor you put in. Fantastic work. Thanks again!

I don't quite know but not six months. I want to say about 12-16 weeks.I got it from my ex father in law who lives on 20 acres. The last one I got that my ex now has is huge. He's got 8 left on his back deck. He's been trying to catch the adults and get them fixed. We adopted out the last litter and they are all great cats but were hand raised from an early age. This one was living on his back deck until a few days ago. It got away in my house on Saturday and I had to borrow a trap from a cat lady to catch it. Now it's confined to a small bathroom when I'm not home. It's doing really well adapting so far but we'll see how it goes. It figured out the litter box on day 2. I've had it upstairs hanging out when I'm home and it's getting used to the house and my two old labs who've lived with cats off and on their whole lives.

I have had great success with feral cats.
The black one I found bouncing off the front of a Toyota van on the 55 freeway. Boo the cream & white cat got sick and Spooky groomed and cared for him.
It was strange to see a black cat gack up white hairs balls.

The gray kitty in the foreground was a grove cat that got caught by a coyote and we brought her inside to heal. She only goes out on the odd occasion to see her kids.

OK, this is Monkey

Believe it or not these pics are of the same cat.
After she was fixed she blew up like a balloon, she now kinda resembles a football with hair and a little head
