That's okay Sidney...M3 drivers need to be afraid...the Boss 302 Laguna Seca is coming. And we all know your secret desire is to own one of the '08 '09 Bullitt models.

BTW...the Motor Trend test driver admitted he lapped the Mustang faster than the BMW...probably more representative of what an average enthusiast driver would do over Randy Probst. But of course, even he couldn't keep up with a well set up 944 while driving a Mustang, right?

pwd72s, I don't understand your incessant fascination with baiting Sidney. I remember you selling your 911, and the mixed emotions knowing it was going overseas. Your posts were insightful, and I grew to look forward to threads started by pwd72s.

Now I'm just disappointed.

You don't know me, and I don't know you, but you should know you're beginning to look foolish. If you've got a hard-on for Mustangs (and I really understand if you do), go post something positive and insightful in forums with like-minded folks, not stick around here stirring the pot like a bitter old man.

Either that, or quit trying to get a rise out of a young guy with a passion for Porsches. I really want to look forward to pwd911s posts again.

As the owner of a well-set-up 944, I've always enjoyed Paul's posts.

Because of him, I've learned the folley of my ways.

Or maybe it's because I have an early 911. Not quite like Paul's, as it has a 3.2 stuffed in the rear. I've never been one too concerned with originality.

If anybody doesn't recognize this car as a Porsche, they do not care, and I don't need to tell them.

We welded up the holes for the hood crest, as I was going to use a sticker to prevent theft. After seeing it come out of the paint booth, I really liked the clean look, and left everything off.

...I guess the well-set-up 944 kinda makes up for the "Lack of excess ornamentation", huh?

Maybe it's an age thing...I just don't care for stripes, graphics, and doo-dads on a street car. Yeah, I like the look you did.

By "age thing"...late 50's early 60's...a "shaved" car was considered pretty damned cool.

Anyway, it's what you didn't do that I respect...no phoney "R" taillight look, bet you don't have "yeller" headlights, and those ugly off road rally lights on the hood either. Just a clean car...

Hey, well set up 944's? Cheap Racing...not a thing wrong with that.

Didn't you lose your taste for your Porsche because of the way other Porsche owners acted, and the way they treated you ? Two wrongs do not make a right.

BTW, I for one am happy that you have a car that makes you as happy as your 911 used to. But I could be persuaded to change that opinion. Don't be like the little boy who cried Mustang.

These types of stories are meaningless w/o knowing more about the drivers. Did your guy have the balls/skill to wring every last drop out of the GT3? At any rate, a stock 997 GT3 puts out what, ~420hp? So any modified, supercharged car w/ 5-600 hp should be able to pull it in the straights. Or at least make it impossible to pass.

Does Porsche make the best sports cars in the world? I think so. But it's subjective as hell. I factor-in toughness/engineering/build quality/mechanical beauty + history of marque and how much true racing technology makes it into their production cars.

With the current state of automotive performance engineering, it's not hard for any company to hire the right people and make a special model with some crazy-great track times associated with it. But notice that Porsche never has an ad bragging about beating a Ford. They used to occasionally run an ad bragging about taking the 1-8th place @ LeMans, or something like that.

PWD reminds me of the old saying: When someone is bragging about their town, saying, "We have a symphony! We have a famous museum!"--- You know that you're in a small town.

Well folks...there is the Grand-Am series coming up. Pretty high driver skill levels there, race prepped within the rules. Porsche 911 GT3 and Ford Mustang Boss 302 are both in the GT field.

No well set up 944's anywhere...sorry about that.

Cheap racing is right. If I wrecked the 911 on the track, I'd be sitting in the corner, fetal position, sucking my thumb. If I roll the 944 up into a ball, I'll run back to the pits, holding nothing more than the steering wheel, pumping my fist in the air, screaming "Now THAT was FUN!"
